“Fantastic family holiday destination”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

This park has everything you need to keep your kids entertained. The facilities are all new, fresh and very very clean. My kids( 11, 8 and 7) have told all their friends about their visit. Each had a favourite thing, the indoor pool, the outdoor pool with a slide, games room, trampolines and the freedom to ride their bikes around the park and feel safe. I highly recommend this park to all families who are looking for a holiday park with great facilities and very friendly, helpful staff....:)

After travelling 7 hours with two grumpy children in the back seat, we finally arrived at the Big 4. I was so tired and just the thought of settng up the caravan was making me grumpy.
I was warmly greeted by a lovely lady at reception (sorry didnt catch her name) who explained alittle about the park and handed me a pack of tim tams (FRIEND FOR LIFE).
The place was fantastic. There was an inside pool which the water seemed to be a little warmer than the outdoor pool. The indoor play centre was a real hit with my kids. and the spring free trampoloine right next to the games room was a real treat. But l would have to say the highlight, other than the slide in the outside pool, was the organised kids activities. Every day, and sometimes upto three times a day they put on spectial activties for the kids. Anything from water slides and jumpind castles to canvas painting, cup decorrating and even a reptile show. You may pay a little more to stay here, but its worth every cent.
The only negative, would possiblly be the amenities block. It needs updating, which we were told is happening this year. The other, was our caravan was placed at the back of the cabins, which had no shade and could be a little lonely. But the place was worth it.

Room Tip: Can be a little windy, so see if you can get a site in the middle of the caravan park to shade you.

Family of 4, stayed here Friday and Saturday night in Dec 2012, in a 2BR Kentia cabin. Excellent layout: large kitchen and living areas, big bathroom, good size master bedroom; 2nd Bedroom had double L-shaped bunk beds (so you could sleep 4 x large kids). Spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained. Large front verandah with very large outdoor dining setting.
In the grounds, there was both an indoor and an outdoor pool, and also 2 x half-size tennis courts. There was also an indoor games room but we did not utilise this.
The grounds are significantly enhanced by extensive palm tree plantations around the cabins, which have transformed this from the potentially barren van-park setting into something really nice.
Good value, we paid around $470 for 2 nights which compared very well with apartment-accommodation in Nelson Bay and Shoal Bay... with the bonus of the swimming pools, grounds, and courts.

Loved this park! kids were always so busy between jungle gym and indoor pool, it would have some of the best facilities for kids we have ever encountered in a big 4.
Staff were lovely and very understanding when we had to change our arrival date due to a death in the family, we really appreciated it.
Park is also very clean, BBQ'S always spotless, lawns mowed & our cabin was spotless.
Most of our time was spent in the indoor pool, it was just wonderful.
Only complaint from the kids was that they could'nt swim in the outdoor pool as it was too cold!! but we can't control the weather!! Great club next door, can't wait to return next year!!

Room Tip: Kentia cabins are great, & they have a lovely grass area in front of them for the kids to run ar...

Loved the facilities , clean and great for the kids even when raining ! Although you need to drive everywhere as the local shops are 15mins quick walk. $200 per night is a bit much but it was a great holiday and the club is next door , great food too!

The park was fantastic with great facilities for our 3 year old girl, indoor heated pools and jungle play centre were fantastic. Our room was very comfortable for us 3 (bungalow) and could sleep 2 more easily. Room was very clean and neat and had enough kitchen items for living.

The only thing that stopped us from making this a 5 star rating was that they were inflexible outside of the booking. When we checked out at 10am we wanted to let our girl play in the jungle play centre for 1 more hour we were told that we are not allowed to, and when we asked for a later checkout 12pm instead of 10am, we were not able to as they needed to allow 5 hrs to clean all rooms and would not budge. (Yet their booking form says you can ask for a later checkout).

Apart from the last part about inflexibility, we loved the place and will be back next holiday.

Hi Jeff, we are very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us, and even more pleased to hear you'll be coming back... We understand your comment about the inflexibility of a late stay, but because you checked out on a Friday, and we were fully booked for the weekend, we genuinely couldn't provide that for you. We do get late stay requests quite frequently, and are happy to do so where possible, but where the cabin is to be re-occupied on the same day, we need the time between to attend cleaning and any maintenance that may be required. Even a couple of hours makes all the difference. Sorry for this, but we hope you can understand our position. When you come back to us next time, be sure to let the girls know you might like a late stay as early as possible, and they will try to fill other cabins first, so we have the best chance of meeting your request. It's not always possible, but we will try... Again, thanks for your feedback, we look forward to seeing you again soon...

We had a powered tent site which was very good, heaps of room and enough privacy amongst the palm plants. Excellent swimming pools, indoor (heated) and outdoor, excellent facilities for the retired travellers to families and everyone in between. Excellent camp kitchen and lots of stuff for the kids to do in a friendly environment. Close to beach, club and pub next door, 5 minute drive to major shopping centre and all the local attractions are all within around 10-15 minutes drive. Highly recommended and we will be returning in the near future.
