“Worth the time and low cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Recently I spent a few weeks in the Shoalhaven region of NSW visiting my daughter and Grand Children.
One of the things I promised my grand son was a visit to this small private zoo.
I was delighted and so where the children.
The regular shows involving keeper talks about the Koala, reptiles, marmosets and crocodiles where worth the entrance feee by themselves.
The zoo itself is set on 16 acres of land alongside the Shoalhaven river with a good layout and ease of access. Unfortunately I would not recommend the zoo for disabled people as th paths are a little rough and mainly dirt. This means that walking or moving around after rain can be a problem. As well do not expect a jumping crocodile in tourist season as the crocs get lazy when fed daily and lose interst in food.
Overall a nice visit and a very nice local attraction.

“Great place to bring the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

I am a big lover of animals and the outdoors and I've been visiting the South Coast from Sydney for over 10 years. For some reason, I have never visited Shoalhaven Zoo, I wish I hadn't left it so long. I was really pleasantly surprised by what a beautiful place it is.

The zoo has an amazing backdrop of soaring sand stone cliffs on one side and the flowing Shoalhaven River on the other. There aren't heaps and heaps of animals but there is enough to keep you entertained for quite a while and they are really accessible and easy to see. All the enclosures are in excellent condition and there are plenty of open spaces to have a picnic. It is a very loved zoo. Some of the highlights are the dingos, water buffalo, chapukin monkeys, wombats and marmosets. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

I also camped the night at the zoo which is right next to the ski camp ground. The facilities are pretty basic but they have toilets and hot showers and your can light fires in provided drums. There is a lot of rock climbing across the river so this is a really popular place for those wanting to explore the cliff faces I the area.

“Great for the kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

The time we visited it wasnt too bad. My son got to pat a few different animals up close which was good. Maybe more interaction with the kids. More things to do. Maybe little quiz to get kids looking harder.
