“Rude again - unpleasant check in experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We stayed here last year and loved the location close to town, restaurants, golf course everything. Accommodation was fine but the room was near the rubbish chute! Not good SO NOISY no chance to sleep - so so LOUD really hideous!
So this time we got an awesome chap in reservations and promised accommodation far away from the rubbish chute for our 2 rooms, not together but that was ok !
Arrived today at 1:30pm - woman on reception should be SACKED what a witch! Argued with me that no way were we going to get a room away from the rubbish chute - maybe she should have checked where the allocated rooms were - she was so rude & angry she told us to go away @ come back at check in time 2pm um hello just making point Ih Yeah! What a fool!
The 1 & 2 bed apartments are fine, no where near the chute not near one another but on the same floor as explained!
Maybe the really nice helpful friendly man could do a little training with the reception woman or maybe shes just been in the job tooooo long such bad Customer service!! Such a bad experience when trying the place to fix 1st impression!

Bad , bad bed, Ask for 2 x mattress toppers ( they are really thin) to be put on before you get there.

There is a no smoking policy anywhere in the resort as from January this yr , so if you smoke and want to sit on your balcony for happy hour you will have to have happy hour in the car park out the front.

I don't smoke now , but used to, so i felt for the people that did.

Graham at reception was lovely.

We arrived ontime and booked in ok....after dinner organized a spa before retiring for the night only to find NO HOT WATER...reported to front desk first thing in the morning and was told maintenance will have a look. After being out all day we wanted to freshen up for dinner again NO HOT WATER so 45 minutes before we had to leave we were told to move rooms. The new rooms air conditioner didnt work, the hot water was very average. Over all we had a great week end No Thanks to Landmark. I would not recommend this run down so called Resort to anyone.

If you like a smelly room, no hot water( shower) and back breaking furniture.......then this is the place for you.The furniture looked as if it was retrieved from either a garage sale or a nature strip. On each of the three mornings there was no hot water in the shower. As a result we were asked to shower in the room next door.Dont expect to be able to contact the Manager either. She will either be at a meeting or won't return your calls.Any e mails to her will be returned as " failed to deliver".
There is plenty of good accomodation in Port Stephens.
Don't chose this one.

We recently (June) stayed for 3 nights at the Landmark Nelson Bay using a holiday deal. We had a 1 bedroom self contained apartment on the 1st floor. The staff were helpful on the only occasion we needed anything, and the apartment was clean, although a little tired. The cooking facilities were a little basic, 2 hotplates and a microwave, but there is a 1 drawer dishwasher. There is a large balcony which overlooks the town, the bay and the mountains in the distance. It also overlooks the car park and the adjoining bowling club, but nevertheless the view is pretty good. There is air conditioning in the living area, but in summer I think the bedroom would be a bit hot as the only window is up high and opens into the entrance lobby, and there is no ceiling fan.

It was good value for what we paid, but perhaps at the full rate (if anybody actually pays it) there might be better choices nearer to the waterfront.

Be warned, parking in Nelson Bay is a nightmare, and expensive. Extremely limited free parking, and none at all at the waterfront, only 1 parking space even at the tourist information centre! I don't think I'd go back in the season unless I

Room Tip: All the 1 bedroom apartments have a balcony at the front of the building. The car park would probabl...

Stayed here for three nights as a short getaway.

Location was fine, about a 10 minute walk down to the main area. Plenty of car parking. Check in was okay and that was about the only time I saw a staff member.

There were lots of kids staying when we were there so it was very noisy as the bedroom backs onto the walkway and everything is open. Not a very comfortable sleep due to the noise.

The room was not made up the nights that we stayed, I guess that's not included.

Paid extra for the spa room, which was a waste. The spa is too small and looked dirty. Also the shower leeks water all of the bathroom as there was no curtain.

If I was going back as a couple, I would not stay in Nelson Bay again. Shoal Bay seems to have a younger crowd and the one mile beach is worth the drive.

Room Tip: Don't get the spa room. Just request the view.

We have just returned from a 2 day stay at the Landmark in a 1 bedroom apartment. Firstly there was no advertising anywhere to suggest it was a non smoking resort which my partner was very unhappy about as we had a beautiful balcony that we never used as he enjoys a smoke with his glass of wine but instead we never used the facilities at all.we stayed or 2 nights but the room was not made up after the first day or no fresh towels or coffee etc..... The room had dirty marks over the walls as well. The only thing this resort has going for it is the location. We will definitely spend our money slew here next time
