“Reminds me of Thailand”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

A basic Thai restaurant, with fantastic Thai flavours, that leave you thinking you were in Thailand. A place I will return to without hesitation, a real Thai family cooking for you with prices to compare. Thanks.

“A Little Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

The Hot Wok is a tiny Thai/Chinese restaurant in Merimbula, NSW at the end of a small arcade that overlooks the RSL carport. I discovered this little gem about two years ago when a friend invited me to a lunch there. Since then, I have been back about half a dozen times. It never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious and uses the freshest of ingredients. The Gado gado and the satays are particularly memorable. The owner/chef is the most delightful lady - the Mum cooking with joy for her extended family is the atmosphere and impression she creates. There is a big choice for vegetarians (not easily found in this area) and some very interesting dishes. The prices are so reasonable. As it is a tiny place, it can be a bit noisy when fully booked. That is the only reason I didn't give it a five.

“room for improvement”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We dined here after seeing favourable reviews on here but were disappointed. Firstly the photo shown on Tripadvisor is not this restaurant. Hot Wok is tiny and the decor is um...pink, dated, cluttered and unappealing. But the food you ask...well sadly my best description would be below average. Servings were a reasonable size but really lacked flavour. One dish we did enjoy however was the steamed dim sims. The wait staff were young and inexperienced.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

We had take away from here but were disappointed with the lack of flavour and cooking skills. Not expensive but not great either. A strange interpretation of Singapore noodles (done with flat rice noodles and rather tasteless) It seems that the person cooking is just following a recipe rather than understanding the flavours.

“Great yummy thai food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

Loved it! Great flavors and reasonably priced food. Friendly service! We were there with a group of 9 and the service was well managed. It is a small restaurand and tucked away from the main street. A great find!
