We had the best stay at Pinetrees lodge of any holidays. They provided excellent service for dinner lunch and tea all of which were tasty and well presented, Staff were helpful and friendly. Want a lift to the golf course or a picnic lunch? Nothing was too much trouble. Just like the fact there was an honesty bar at the beach house for a quiet drink while watching the sun set over the lagoon - perfect

Room Tip: Select a room that looks out to transit hill = it is sunny in winter

We loved Pinetrees and Lord Howe. Just what you need to recharge your batteries and truly escape the modern world. Love the fact that the meals are all there and so delicious and that we could have BBQ or picnics, all food delivered and picked up by Pinetrees, at secluded spots where all you could see was the beautiful view. Even cooked the fish we had caught the day before on our fishing trip which they organised. Bliss!

We are regulars here and love every minute. Great accommodation. Fabulous food. A magnificent setting. Always like coming home to family but all needs catered for. Whatever you like to do you can do it best on Lord Howe and staying at Pinetrees.

Room Tip: We like to stay in the cottages.

This holiday was exactly what we were looking for. There is no phone reception, no tv, no car, and you don't miss any of it. We travelled as a family of five, with a 1yr, 4yr and 5yr, the weather was early winter but it didn't hold us back from exploring every day. The beauty of the island is that you can have winter on one side and you go to the other side of the island (less than 2kms across) and have a totally different experience in weather. The beaches are quiet and we often had them to ourselves. The BEST part about the resort was the food, it was very high quality and there was lots (if not too much!) of healthy well prepared food. The highlight was BBQ lunches, where the resort packages up a plentiful chilli bin and picnic basket and delivers it to one of the many BBQs on the island, with wood and firestarters for you to enjoy a picnic bbq lunch, then they take all the rubbish away as well. So as a family, we rode our bikes to the beach, enjoyed a beautiful lunch and just wandered back to the resort. The accommodation was good, plenty of space in our 2 bedroom unit. it was private and you didn't hear anyone else. our outlook was bush and very pretty. cleanliness was excellent, and I'm very picky. The staff made the resort the great place it was, they were familiar and friendly, just lovely. I used a babysitter which the resort organised (Danielle) and she was excellent, I would highly recommend. My only advice would be that it was probably not the perfect holiday for our one year old, and I would say it is best suited to children over 3years old. There are lots of activities like biking, bush walking, tennis at the resort, swimming and glass bottom boat, but these aren't really suitable for babies. A truly wonderful holiday at Pinetrees, we loved it.

Room Tip: we had three children and two adults and had a two bedroom unit which had more than enough space. we...

Lord Howe island is a place to decompress from the tensions of modern day life. No cell, no internet, very few cars and a policeman that tried to give me a ticket for not wearing e helmet on the old fashioned bicycle supplied by the hotel.

Pinetrees lodge fits in well. Nothing fancy, plentiful food and friendly service. Cost needs to be appreciated relative to the exotic location and costs associated with it.Close to Ned's beach. There good but challenging scuba, great hiking and you can explore the whole island by bicycle.

Our family stayed a week, but by the end some of us were getting anxious to be back in civilization.

This place is amazing. Lord Howe Island alone is beyond beautiful, the best reefs I've ever seen wonderful mountains to hike and fantastic wildlife, marine and bird.
But then there is this property. Run by a generational family, Dan I (I think that's how her name is spelled) is an amazing host. Not only are all meals included, they are incrible meals. If you can't make it back for lunch, they set up barbeques with fresh fish, lamb, etc.
The place is remarkable, if only I wasn't half a world away, it would be a regular stop for me. I was there I early June, off season. The water was just a touch cool, but because there were even fewer guests there, only 400 are ever allowed on the island, it was even more private.
If you are looking for the ideal place to visit, and you can afford it, Lord Howe island is really hard to beat, especially if you are treated so wonderfully.

Arrived a day late due to flight cancellation due to severe cross winds in the island. Nevertheless our stay was redeemed by the fantastically helpful staff, great array of eating options (we stayed full board), reasonable rooms and well located positioning to see the whole island. The apartment rooms are getting a bit tried, although the main buildings are fine. Apparently there is a refurb planned. There is a bar, which is well stocked, a common room with plenty of books and comfy sofas. The location is central so walking or cycling to the 'town centre' is easy where there are shops (few) and coffee shop/bar/restaurant options. Across to the beach is a beach house with drinks available (honesty box) and a great spot to watch evening sunsets. So it's all there.

If planning a day walk or beach relax staff will prepare BBQ packs (locally scattered around the island) or sandwiches if you are trekking for the day. Any questions, recommendations etc..the staff will eagerly advise. All in all highly recommended and would go again.
