“well maintained, good signs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

the tracks are very well maintained and have good signage at all junctions. it would be hard to get lost unless you go off the tracks. Amazing views but be careful of the cliff edges!

“Some are tougher than others”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

The trek up Max Nicholl's steps is a bit hard on the knees, but ridge to Kim's Lookout and Malabar hill is very manageable. I walked it on my own without difficulty. Good location for red-tailed tropic birds.

The long route to Mutton Bird Island lookout via Soldier's Creek rood is easier, but lesser used and watch out for territorial swooping currawongs as you near the lookout. The shorter coastal route to the lookout was closed due to a rock fall when I was there.

“if you love hiking ....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Lord Howe has numerous walking trails , ranging from very easy to extreme..(ie. Mt Gower ) You can get a very good map when you arrive that has all the walks marked .
Most of the trails are marked well.
Recommended ones would be The goathouse caves walk on Mt Lidgebird ( great warm up for Gower) some rope work and a good steady climb but worth it for the views ! If you continue on from the caves just a little further, you may see Ball's pyramid in the distance.
Malibar and Kym's look out walk. great hike. we do recommend you start it at Ned's beach , you get rewarded with some spectacular views earlier and the last section is all steps down , hundreds of them... so coming the other way would be very taxing .
and obviously Mt Gower walk/hike/ climb... extreme but so worth it !

“Many beautiful walks”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Well signposted walks every - and beautiful views at every turn. Some walks, like Malabar Point and Kim's Lookout require a little more effort than others.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

All tracks really well marked and maintained our 4 year old was able to walk with us and had an amazing time exploring the island! Well done to all the people who work hard to create these tracks. Some of the most beautiful views back across the island from Malabar. Husband did the Goat track and said it was spectacular but too much for the kids but well worth it for adults and older ones.
