Our first visit to the Grand Mercure Apartments Casuarina Beach and it won't be our last. Well appointed self contained apartment resort. King size beds in all rooms, air con, foxtel, marble bathroom, great pools and spa, awesome restaurant. What more could you want?????

We stayed here the Australia Day Weekend, so it was a wet and wild weekend! Fortunately the pool and spa area are just fantastic and we used the outdoor spa heaps as there was nothing else to do. Too wet and wild to explore the beaches.
This resort has a beautiful area attached to the pool area to relax and is covered from the elements so didn't have to spend the weekend couped up in our room.
We stayed in one of the studio rooms and they are surprisingly large, have a spa bath and cooking facilities. There is little privacy though due to the layout of the rooms.
We used the Restaurant and had not prebooked - were lucky enough to get a table. Would recommend pre booking. Fantastic Restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Staff attentive and advised how the Menu works as the dishes are for sharing. Highly recommend the restaurant.
Checking in and out was easy and Staff were helpful.
As per other reviews, if there is a private function you are not left with many options if they use the pool area. On reflection it may be wise to ask the question before you book.
Based on our stay and on such a terrible weekend weather wise, I would highly recommend this resort.
If you are wanting to explore the region you will need a car. We loved it and would return!

I just recently stayed here with my wife. We came in from the Santai Retreat web site so we had to pick our keys up from The Beach Resort which was ok because it was just down the road a little bit and they gave us free DVDs and pool towels to use. The room was great, very clean and we were pleasantly surprised with the quality. It had everything we needed. The beach was only a couple of minutes walk away, but we loved that our room was so close to the pool and stayed there most of the time. It was just like being somewhere in Bali. There was a restaraunt there called The Spice Den. It looked pretty popular but we were happy to cook in our room. We loved it and will definitely be staying again.

We have just returned from a ten day stay at the Grand Mecure Casuarina. First impressions were good and the pool area certainly has the WOW factor. The room though was not overly clean, still had hair in wash basins and the lounge was rubbish.. The main bedroom had no curtains or blinds, so we would feel the full force of the sun from about 7.00 am, (very bright and very hot). At check in the front desk staff did'nt spend too much time explaining the ins and outs of the resort. We found out later the owner of our room had recently changed management, so I'm guessing the people at reception were a little ticked off! Still, no idea why they would not service our room (after eight days), or at least offer us some clean towels. I've got to be truthful, the service was ordinary!! $240 per night, no breakfast, no free wi fi, no service. We paid $170 per night in Koh Samui last year, and were treated like royalty!!
PS: The restaurant (Spice Den) only opens on the weekend, there is no bar or cafe on site, you have to travel to Salt Village. DO go to the banquet on Sunday night, it is excellent value for $29 pp.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 301. We had a view of the vast wasteland next door, and in the distance, the ocean...

Stayed at Grand Mercure for 2 nights. Very large Studio room, self contained, very clean. Large bathroom with spa bath. Very quiet, even though it was the Christmas/New Year holidays. Pool area very nice, great day beds. Would stay there again.

Grand Mercure -now Santire Retreat was a relaxing two day break. Front desk staff could have been a touch friendlier, but caretaker who met s with key and instructions was lovely. Restaurant on site amazing but no where for breakfast on site for weary travellers!
