“Great Menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Great restaurant and great food with on site baked goods. I am a coeliac and the restaurant caters well for GF sufferers. I like that the kitchen is in full view of the diners so you can see what's going on. Management and staff were great. Will be back.

“I Wouldn't Bother Knocking at Mockingbird!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

Mockingbird - it had a good ring to it, I was hungry, it was hot and this cafe provided a seating area borrowed from the footpath. Perfect...unfortunately, the food and service was not.

After attempting eye contact from the hostess from the centrally placed menu pedestal, it was necessary to verbalize that a table was needed. Happily lead to a pleasant spot on the street verge, menus were placed ready for perusal. A decision was made well within 5 minutes and after approximately 8-10 minutes, it again, was necessary to call for attention for service. Irritating to witness, from the cashier desk, our waitress and floor manager casually chatting during the whole time we were seated.

A special request for an alteration to a beef salad, from my companion, was met with doubtful result however, a request to the chef was offered. The answer was favourable which tipped the balance of the previous 'not so great service' thought. Short lived unfortunately, the meals were brought out after a very long wait with only a low to medium 'bums on seats' ratio. The special request was not delivered leaving my companion reluctant to eat it and my meal was little more than tasteless.

Upon going inside and reaching the cashier to pay the bill, it was noticed the cafe offered a much more appetizing cabinet full of healthy looking light lunches - if only this had been pointed out to us when the menus were given...

I would like to add that although the service was slack, the menu was mediocre and the culinary flare was missing, the staff were friendly to speak with once their attention was captured. A little too laid back for the level of expectation in today's cafe scene.

“Honest help”

I recently left my wallet at the Mockingbird. The staff and management were most helpful and patient in ensuring its safe return. Our brunch was delicious and the service excellent too. Thank you

“lunch with special friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

This little cafe has the freshest ,most imaginative food. Third visit, third enjoyable experience. Fastest service, friendliest wait staff . Inexpensive, refreshing menu . Can't recommend highly enough... and lots of Gluten Free. :)

“Great breakfast spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013 via mobile

Took the family for breakfast and Mockingbird turned out to be a great choice. My kids had milkshakes with old school paper straws, and delicious pancakes.

The wife and I had coffees & eggs benedict.

No complaints at all. Staff were friendly, prices weren't crazy. A welcome addition to Kingy!
