“Lovely and right on the water”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

The Sebel has beautiful views over the Kiama boat harbour . The shopping in town is great and the meals at the bar are lovely . You just cannot use your advantage plus card discount . However watch discounts available on the Facebook page at times for breakfast buy one get one free. Being an accor hotel , I believe the discount. Should be given on food .

Dear Ianniemac7,

I love your review title and I agree with you, great spot right on the water.

Currently the hotel doesn't accept the Advantage Plus program however this is scheduled to change in the first quarter of 2014.

We look forward to welcoming you back at The Sebel Harbourside Kiama in the near future.

This was our first stop on our drive from Sydney to Melbourne over five days. We arrived a bit late but were greeted warmly and told where to park the car. We found a space quite near the lift, so it was fairly easy to take the luggage up to the room. We had a balcony, but the view wasn't anything to write home about, although the room itself was very nice indeed.

We opted to eat in the hotel restaurant both on the evening of our arrival and breakfast the next day. The evening meal was very nice, but the restaurant was very noisy. Breakfast was a buffet arrangement - I believe a-la-carte is available, but not on Sundays.

A very nice hotel which I would definitely visit again, and for more than one night!

Had a two night stay here during Oct. I fell that i have stopped in better properties which cost a lot less. The properties exterior is very nice but the room was bland and didn't have any character.

The good points are the staff, who were all extremely polite and helpful (especially Celeste on the front desk) and the free parking.

Dear Emmaandangus,

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at The Sebel Harbourside Kiama.

I am sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy our room decor or that the price you paid was high. I am wondering if you stayed over the long weekend as demand was extremely busy during this weekend which is why the prices might have been higher than normal.

I am happy however to hear that the customer service you received was excellent. Celeste is a valued employee who receives numerous compliments. Your comments have been passed onto her.

As you mentioned, we do have free parking and we also have plenty of spaces available for our guests.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We stayed here over the Oct Day long weekend, the check in was very quick, about 2 mins max! I thought this was pretty good. The hotel has free parking which is also good. We booked a family room, which doesnt provide much of a view (ours was over the train line) the room is very quite, but lacks an in-room safe - either that or I couldnt find it. In room dining options not that great, and the breakfast far too expensive! there is a microwave and hot plates in this room and overall the room is a bit bland.

It is close to kiama shops and the blowhole

Overall I would recommend this as a good weekend getaway, however I wouldnt stay there considering the price, and would opt for something cheaper.

Room Tip: Family rooms do not face the sea

Dear SydneyKhan,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us.

We were really busy over the long weekend so I am glad to hear that your check in was quick. We have limited rooms that have a harbour/ocean view but please ask reception when you make your next booking as we would be happy to provide one if available. They are popular so it is a matter of getting in quickly to secure one.

I note your comment about the in room dining. Without knowing what you ordered it is hard to investigate however I will speak with the head chef to make sure orders are sent within time and that we deliver good quality meals.

We don't have safes in our rooms however guests can leave valuables at reception which is open 24 hours, the items can be accessed at all times.

I hope that you will consider staying with us again as we would love to welcome you again in the future.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Stayed here overnight and wished we were staying longer.

The reception area was well appointed and attractive and check in was quick and efficient. We asked and paid for an ocean view room in advance. The room was a decent size with a king size bed and large flat screen tv. Surprisingly it also had a kitchen. The large bathroom was very smartly appointed with an oversize shower stall and snow white fluffy towels.

The bed was very comfortable and I loved being able to see the ocean out the window in the morning. The room had a large balcony with a small table and 2 chairs. The only thing I didn’t like was that the balcony ran the whole side of the hotel and all the rooms opened on to it. The only separation along the balcony was a couple of pot plants where one room finished and another started which made for a distinct lack of privacy, particularly given anyone could easily walk along the whole length of the balcony.

A hot buffet breakfast was included in the tariff and the offer of champagne with breakfast was an unexpected but welcome bonus. The large breakfast room was very bright with a fabulous view of the ocean.

The whole place felt fresh and new but really in this day and age free wifi is expected particularly given the cost of the room which wasn’t cheap.
Overall, a very pleasant stay and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a harbour facing room
