We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Bay of Plenty Lodges. The accommodation is a long way (13 km) down a dirt track and so it is not a location you would want to come and go to during the day. However, hidden away in the depths of the national park is truly is a quiet little hideaway.
My mum and I stayed in one of the large 3 bedroom apartments, mainly so we could each get a king size bed and so that mum could use the spa. Unfortunately on the first night the king size bed was not set up (we'd requested it in the booking), however when my mum asked for it to be setup this was no problem at all and the hosts had the two single beds in the 2nd bedroom joined together ready for our second night there.
The cabin was warm even when it was getting chilly at night. The kitchen was well equipped, though much of the crockery and glassware was dirty. The accommodation has a policy of guests washing, drying and putting away their dishes, pots, pans etc, and I think this contributed, especially as the dishwasher in our cabin was broken.
The highlight of the accommodation is definitely how hidden away and peaceful it is. The accommodation is comfortable, but not outstanding.
