I'm not one to complain about hospitality service, as my family is in this type of business. This is my first ever review in fact. However we booked a room at The Huskisson, to say it was unpleasant is an understatement. Firstly let me say it was a Saturday night and cosy $170 for a standard double (small) room. We arrived at the pub, could not find a check in desk, eventually this was done on a lap top in the hectic bar (VERY STRANGE), then the Internet would not work so it took a half hour to check in. After 6 hours driving, we decided to head to bed early. Arrive at room, first it was tiny, got over that and got into bed, the noise from the street was insane, there literally was a band out side out window, then cars revving, heaps of people screaming and roaring loudly, then a rock band, that was the final straw. I may as well have put a pillow beside the drum kit and invited the local alcoholic into my room. Having travelled the world, staying in hostels to 5 star hotels, this was by far the worst nights sleep I have ever had. Room carpet was filthy, bed was pretty good, food good value, Deb (bar person) was great, rude group of lads talking complete vulgarity outside bedroom window etc. But the noise level was beyond ridiculous. Probably bearable mid week, but only at a much lower rate. It's 3 star accommodation.

Thanks for your review, and I'm sorry you were disappointed about the level of noise at the hotel. Due to The Huskisson's very central location right in the middle of the town, and the fact we host live music every Friday and Saturday night, there is unfortunately little we can do about the noise. Our guests are reminded at booking and check-in that their accommodation is above the hotel, and we have taken steps to try and insulate the rooms as much as possible but noise from the street does inevitably make its way into the bedrooms.

I'm sorry to hear about the people talking loudly from the street, and while we do make every effort to move these types of people along as quickly as possible, there is again little we can do about behaviour in a public place. I'd like to clarify that all our rooms feature queen beds, not doubles, and that they have been renovated in accordance with strict Heritage guidelines, which explains their intimate proportions. Also, with only eight rooms, we cannot justify a separate reception area, so decided to put the key collection and check-in area where there are always staff. The issues you mentioned with the internet connection are enormously frustrating but an unfortunate reality of being in a regional area... we are continuing to take this up with our provider!
On a positive note, I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed the food and Deb's service, and would like to offer you a free drink in The Brasserie if you return to The Huskisson to make up for your disappointing stay this time. Hope to see you soon.
