I visited Huskisson for a weekend away and was quite disappointed with the breakfast dining experience we had at the Angels Bayside Cafe.
The atmosphere isn't too bad if you sit outside, as it's right on the corner of the main street and has views of the beautiful bay. That was the highlight. From the time we ordered it was 25 minutes before our coffee and orange juice arrived at the table, a bit too much of a wait for 2 drinks. We sat and drank those, and the empty cups had been cleared before we had even received our meals. 50 minutes passes and finally the poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, and french toast with ricotta and fruit arrived. The poached eggs were terrible - hard, dry and cold. The 2 muffins they sat on were stone cold, the only warm bit on the plate was the bacon. As for the French Toast, the one piece on the plate was also cold and the ricotta in the ramekin next to it had gone runny and looked as it had been sitting out for a while (anyone who eats ricotta knows it should have a firm consistency and not sloppy). The menu also stated that seasonal fruit would be placed onto the french toast, yet it was far from ripe.
It was really disappointing to have this experience as we'd hoped for a lot more from a cafe in such a prime spot. When I took the food back and advised staff of the issue, the girl at the counter was apologetic and friendly however when I heard her tell the 'chef' in the kitchen of my complaint and the chef replied to her 'well french toast is supposed to be cold'. No, no it isn't. I was provided with a refund and apology, still it was a disappointing waste of almost an hour dining at this place.
