“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We stayed in one of the treehouses and even though it needed reburbishment (which we where told about before booking) it was lovely. The views from the deck are wonderful, the house is very comfortable and the location so peaceful. The treehouses are on the edge of a national park and if you don't like a few insects in the house you need to aware of this - ants seemed to love our treehouse but they are harmless. Byron town is about a 5 min drive but is worth it to escape this small busy town. The only thing to be aware of is building work is happening behind the treehouses and the noise does impact, even more than normal as the location is so peaceful.

Room Tip: I think we had the Kingfisher lodge, it has really good views as it was quite high

We stayed in apartment 13. Renovated, very modern, clean and very comfortable. Ask for a renovated room when making your booking. The pool was heated and so nice to swim in. Our 2 year old and 1 year old had great fun in the toddlers room, which was wonderful. Staff were friendly, even letting us still swim in the pool just after checking out :) A bit out of town, but only a 2 min drive. Take the walk to the beach which is just near the hotel, really uplifting and energising. The hotel is close to the beach, you can hear the waves breaking at night.

The front desk staff was very helpful with our questions on the area and the activities. The location of the resort is a little out of the way and you will need a car to get to the main beach. The bedrooms were a good size. A large balcony where we ate our meals. The kitchen had everything you needed. Very spacious and comfortable. Bright was big windows. the gym was a little disappointing and there was no air conditioning. We didn't use the pool but there were families enjoying it and it looked well maintained. Free WiFi which is a must when you have to teenage kids. This would not be suitable for someone who has problem with stairs. No elevator. I would stay here again. The hike to the rocks from the Lighthouse is a must when you visit! Really enjoyed Byron Bay.

Room Tip: We didn't stay in the tree top houses rather one of the two bedroom apartments. Be aware that ea...

Recently stayed at this beautiful tucked away resort. Before… reading traveler review in regards to booking direct and to ask for one of the renovated units. I stayed in unit 17 - although not renovated as such, the furnishings were lovely, the kitchen well equipped and wow spotless! Also, beds were super comfortable, complete with quality linen and gorgeous cushions. I have since learned the unit is privately owned - with the owner overseas for an extended period of time. I would highly recommend this unit located towards the back of the complex ( quiet ) as the comfort level was wonderful. Thank you to the owner for providing a home away from home. Also, in house management services were excellent.

We stayed for 3 nights during March in apartment 24. The gardens and swimming pool are all very well maintained and clean and there is a lovely large new above ground spa to use. The actual apartment however is in need of some TLC. The aircon didn't work (which the hosts were quick to try and get fixed) and only the main bedroom had a ceiling fan (albeit old and noisy). The second bedroom had a standing fan which we were able to use in the main living space. The lounge area whilst, furniture was in good condition was dated and, we felt general repair of the walls and windows was really poor. Utensils etc. in the kitchen were slightly lacking - but then we did visit at the end of summer season. Byron town is a drive/ 30 min walk away and has plenty to offer and keep you entertained.

Room Tip: Ask the hosts to confirm which room you're in before you book.

As the proud new owners of No 24 at the Oasis we are delighted to tell you that we have given the apartment a complete overhaul with plush new furniture both inside and out, top-of-the-market ducted air-con and heating, new ceiling fans, stylish downlighting, new dishwasher, fresh paint, artwork, crockery and decor. Being in premium position, No 24 still gets the best ocean views and thats one thing we can assure you has not changed. We hope you come back, stay again and love it as much as we do!

My partner and I booked a treetop house for a long weekend in March for our anniversary. We stayed in the Sandpiper, which was charming, but a little dated - creaky stairs, peeling wood, leaking pipes. Nothing too bad though. We did notice that the house seemed to sway in the wind, which was a little worrying!

We absolutely loved sitting in the spa at night, looking at the stars. However, we would have loved it even more if you could change the temperature of the spa - it's locked on 37 degrees. It would have been nice to set it to cool so we could lounge in it on hot days.

A couple of things we found a bit annoying: the hotel management says they have Austar, but they use this term very loosely. They actually only have about 10 channels - sky news, nick for kids and some sports channels - and even then they didn't all work. It bucketed down one day we were there and we would've appreciated more channels. Also, it wasn't easy to work out how to get on to Austar, and there were no instructions provided. We had to call the manager to come to the house and work it out for us. Not a big deal, because you don't go on holidays to watch TV, but I think advertising that the place has Austar it is generous. We ended up just renting movies from one of the local video stores - yes they still exist in Byron!

Another thing that was slightly annoying is that they didn't provide us with the WiFi password straight away, we had to go up to the office and ask for it. I would've thought they'd just give it to you when you check in.

We had lots of ants coming through the kitchen and living area, even though we didn't leave any food out. They do provide some insect spray, but it was a bit annoying to have to wake up and spend a few minutes killing ants each morning.

The two bedrooms had air conditioning, but even with them both on full blast, it wasn't enough to cool the house down. The washing machine was difficult to operate, I had to turn it on and off at the plug a few times to get it to work.

The pool is nice and big, but definitely needs a refurbishment. The change room door jammed while I was in it and it took me a good 5 minutes of banging and leaning on it to get myself out of there! I'd hate to think how someone with claustrophobia would cope if they got stuck!

We really liked that the complex was away from the noise of central Byron, though it's not far at all, an easy walk or quick drive. We also loved that it was close to Tallow Beach, which is nowhere near as crowded as the other beaches, though you have to be careful because there are dangerous rips and it isn't patrolled. The management were very nice and helpful when we asked them about the Austar and WiFi.

Despite a few hiccoughs, we enjoyed our stay here, but I think it's a tad overpriced considering it's a bit dated and the facilities aren't quite up to scratch (though Byron generally is a bit overpriced!). To be fair, it was just 2 of us in the house, but they're large enough to share between a group, so if you split it 3 or 4 ways then it would be good value. I would come here again in a group or with another couple, but I'm not sure about just the 2 of us, unless they updated the place.

Room Tip: Treetop houses are more secluded. Sandpiper was a bit dated, though all the houses are different so...

We recently stayed at the Oasis in unit 11 and couldn't have been more impressed. The bed was brand new and was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. I'm not sure about what Melissa D has written because it was so clean and modern. The lovely managers told me that the unit has recently had a number of updates and it has really paid off- totally refurbished bathrooms, new outdoor furniture, air conditioning, brand new TV and fridge. Will definately request this unit again. Loved our stay.

Room Tip: Request 11!
