“Not for me”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2015 NEW

We took a round trip travelling by car from Sydney to Brisban stopping at various ports along the way. We did not enjoy Byron beach at all. Although the beaches are pristene and the weather is perfect, there are hundred of flies. With swarms of flies, eating outside on the beach is just downright uncomfortable. The town has is rustic with a hippy feel about it. Restaurants were not the cleanest. The vegetation is lush with tropical trees and big leafed plants. Just a warning, on my way to the swimming area, I was greated by a long black/blown snake slithering down the walk wAy.

“Beautiful ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2015 NEW

Byron Bay is my home town it has changed from a small seaside town to a thriving tourist destination. The beaches are clean and great for families and the surfies alike. The only draw back now is you have to pay for parking along the beach front now so be careful you don't get booked. But dont let this stop you from having a swim on the amazing beaches. There is many hotels ranging in price as well as caravan parks for accommodation. Many restaurants and cafes to stop for a meal or a coffee as well as 3 pubs that have entertainment and good food. The town has 3 supermarkets Woolworths, Aldi and out at the industrial estate IGA. Dont forget the lighthouse which is lovely also the views are a photographer dream. If your lucky you might run into the many Aussie and overseas actors that call the area home or holiday there. Summer is warm but winters can be quite chilly. Enjoy your stay.

“Full of ungrateful, irritating back packers”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2015 NEW

How disapointed were we of Byron Bay. Overprised camp sites, unfriendly shop keepers, rude drugged up backpackers. We visited 3 yrs ago and loved Byron, took our family back and was embarrassed. The area is just beautiful, however clean up your act.

“Nice place gone downhill..more mainstream and arrogant locals”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2015 NEW

Byron is a beautiful place - the beach is great and the vegetation is tropical. There are also a lot of great places to eat, but some seem to have gone downhill.

Some disappointments though is there seems to be a car culture, traffic is bad, pedestrian crossings are blatantly ignored with self righteous drivers making snappy remarks. Most other visitors are well spirited and there's still a decent vibe, but locals seem to have a demeaning sense of entitlement. Perhaps because Byron is becoming more mainstream.

“A Cultural Melting-Pot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2015

Byron has everything from beach culture, surfing, shopping, hippies, rich and poor, locals, tourists and movie-stars. There are wonderful pubs and cafes, and lots of nearby villages and other beaches to visit. Don't miss the markets.
