“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

The resort is old but very clean, with undercover parking. The rooms are a good size with a balcony, very pleasant It is one of the best value accommodation in Byron Bay within walking distance of the beach.

Room Tip: It has tea making facilities but doesn't have a restaurant, which is not a problem with many nea...

Our view of this hotel may have been coloured by a couple of poor hotels before our arrival but we found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet, squeeky clean and very pleasant, overlooking the central courtyard and pool. Shading for the car was a bonus. On the other side of the road from the motel, and on the way into town was a fantastic vegetarian shop/cafe which was excellent value.

Room Tip: No lift. It's on the main road into town so rooms at the back will be quieter

Our 6 night stay at Lord Byron was a positive one. The room was comfortable and clean and served it purpose as we mostly just came and slept at the hotel as we were out for most the day and some of the night. i agree with Lucy F- more of a hotel/ motel than a resort.
When we had inquiries at the front desk, the staff were helpful enough, though not overly friendly.
We didn't mind the 10- 15 min walk to the beach as we got to walk past all the shops along the main street and see everything on the way. Our budget wasn't very large and most of the hotels and resorts were booked out by then so we expected that distance.
My only issue was that we got a complaint from the occupants next door once during the night when we had the TV on too loud! That is not the hotels fault though!
If looking for a cheaper option, near restaurants and shops, this hotel would be a good choice

Room Tip: next time we'll stay in one of the rooms with the balconies overlooking the swimming pool, rathe...

We were here for a seminar and thankfully stayed elsewhere, although many of our colleagues were not that lucky.
Staff were extremely unhelpful and when we were delayed refused to pass on a message to the seminar organiser claiming it was " right on the opposite side of the hotel", actually up two flights of stairs immediately above.
I thought the rooms looked small and unattractive and were expensive for what they were!

We apologize if our staff came across rude and unhelpful. We do try to make all guests welcome and enjoy their stay. We are quite happy tp deliver messages to conferences but we cannot interrupt a conference in progress.
We are surprised to hear the rooms looked small and unattractive as Regularly we have guests comment the rooms are very comfortable and clean and good value for our 3 and half star rating. Being the conference was on in peak time in January our rates compared to the rest of the town are very competitive.

The room was nice but a little small, though they did have wine glasses!! The hotel's location meant that it was good value for money. There was no lift which meant carrying suitcases up stairs! The bathroom was large and with a lovely shower. We spent 2 nights here with it raining in Byron Bay and the hotel served us well.

This hotel and attached holiday apartments are probably OK for longer stay holiday guests but it did not impress for an overnight business trip. Reception closes at 7pm and was not open when I went looking for breakfast the following morning at 7:30am. The hotel does not offer any in-house dining or room service so it seems.

Bed soft and foul smell coming from floor drain in bathroom of my room. Split-system air-conditioning outlet mounted on wall in the corner of the room above the bed/wardrobe meaning only 1 corner of the room received the benefit of the air-con stream - thanks goodness for the overhead fan in the room.

Not business friendly!
