My daughter and her friend booked and paid for a powered campsite for 7 nights over the Christmas period. My wife and I decided to join them for the first 3 nights and we paid for this on arrival. When we checked in we advised we may stay longer depending on family circumstances back home and would pay for any extra nights upon checkout and they agreed this was ok. We stayed an extra night and then went to the office to settle the account and advise the staff that my daughter and myself were returning to Brisbane. I asked if my wife could add an extra 3 nights to the original booking as an extra person. We were then told they had a Policy of a 5 night minimum stay for 'Extra Persons' over the 'peak period,' even though the camp site had already been booked and paid for a full 7 nights. When I tried to reason my wife was only staying an extra 3 nights, we were rudely told that she had to pay for 5 nights minimum on top of the 4 nights we had already stayed. At $45 a night this meant an extra fee of $225 my wife would have to pay for 3 nights as an 'Extra Person'. We were not advised of this policy at check in and simply told they had placed a sign on the gate. This is purely a money hungry and grabbing Policy that has no allowance for guests needs and flexibility. The staff bluntly presented us with two options to either pay the money or go home. We were disgusted by their attitude and decided to cut our holiday short as they did not deserve our business. The treatment and authoritarian attitude of the staff is the worst I have experienced in over 30 years of camping and staying in many holiday parks. We acknowledge my daughter was refunded the nights we cut short, but this does not compensate the arrogant and inflexible attitude that was displayed to us as so called 'guests.'
