Description: Lark Hill is one of the original Canberra Wineries, established in 1978. The vineyard, at 860m, is one of the highest in the district, and is highly awarded for Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Gruner Veltliner. Lark Hill owns a second vineyard in the Canberra District; 'Dark Horse' at Murrumbateman. This vineyard was established in 2001 and at 620m is considerably warmer than Lark Hill, ripening Shiraz, Sangiovese & Viognier perfectly.Lark Hill is certified Biodynamic & Organic; we maintain a strong commitment to sustainability and successfully manage our vineyard with no chemical inputs. Lark Hill Winery is a family owned and operated business, with significant Australian and International ratings, for example; 5* James Halliday Wine Companion 5* Nick Stock Good Wine Guide 2011 Gruner Veltliner placed 7th world-wide in an Austrian run Gruner Veltliner Competition 2011 Pinot Noir placed in top 100 Biodynamic wines of the world by Monty Waldin.

“Truffle Feast on Starry Starry Night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

Lark Hill outdid themselves with a truffle and astronomy themed dinner accompanied by their bio-dynamic wines. The ravioli with Sage butter and truffle shavings was a firm favourite with the Blue Eyed Cod and truffle risotto an excellent second course. Dessert was baked ricotta with candied orange slices a perfect ending to a great meal. The Exaltation blended wine was terrific though my personal favourite is their Pinot Noir - any year is good. Definitely worth teh short drive from Canberra.

“Don't bother”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2012

We were unable to eat as apparently they had reached there 'legal llimit' on covers for the day. Our fault apparently for not using the phone to ring before hand so they could put the red carpet out for us (sic). Very pushy at the cellar door and incredidly rude when we didn't buy anything.. the more the owners wife pushed the more reluctant we were to buy. If you want to go out for the afternoon and be insulted - great place to visit. If not why not try the Lake George Hotel in Bugendore very hospitable people great food and lovely welcoming roaring fire.

“A good start”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012 via mobile

A small menu was a positive for the restaurant. Staff were friendly but it was awkwardly quiet when we were the only diners. A bit of work and attention to the entrance of the restaurant would do this place wonders and would match the smart interior. From the carpark it looks like a mum and dad job but the interior, food and wine make this a classy choice for lunch

“Nice food and lovely view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

A very nice menu. Simple with a good variety.
The bread was delicious, as was the free range chicken and rabbit tarine. The wines were of very good quality. We enjoyed out meal very much. The service was attentive though there were some minor language barriers with our french server that caused some confusion.
Overall though very nice.

“A lovely view and pleasant experience but room to improve”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

This winery restaurant has an enticing menu which is delightfully produced and nicely accompanied by the local wines. The service however is a bit slap dash and inattentive. When I say I want something, I don't expect to ask again OR correct it when it comes out wrongly. The servers are pleasant but unskilled and sometimes the service is very slow. I have been twice recently and will probably go again but it is not cheap and if it does not improve I will probably wait for a few years before returning.
