I have stayed at these apartments many times over the past 5 years and each year they get less looked after. My last experience was plain horrible. On entering the apartment all l could small was urine and there were bull ants climbing all over the door and as l needed to go to the loo after my long drive l found the same ants crawling all over the toilet. My white bed cover had stains all on it and on pulling the bed back l discovered blood stains on the sheets. The coir rugs had thick dust and sand under them, apparently never lifted to clean under them. The white painted floors are now cream and brown and plain filthy. At night the cockroaches come out and a trip to the loo is not a recommended experience at night. Its a shame the owners dont refresh this place as it has some good points like the backyard room under cover for parties or bbq's but it appears very neglected now.

Breakers is perfect for a family holiday in lovely Brunseick Heads - the kind where sand is between your toes and the days seem like endless routines of early swims, coffees, reading, late swims and cool breezes. The flats are equipped with the basics (and there is a great bric a brac shop across the road if you need an extra fork!) are clean, comfortable and spacious. Washing machines are free, backyard and BBQ are clean and well kept. It's not a shiny glossy apartment but it is fabulous if you want a no hassle holiday in very comfortable surrounds. Would definitely stay again. And only 50m from fresh bread bakery in one direction and great small deli/supermarket in the other!

I want a bench like the kitchen benches at Breakers. There is a funky mix of decor in the four apartment and the best quality bed linen of any holiday rental I have ever stayed at. The location is great. Close to everything.

We have used Breakers a number of times and will continue to do so.

Booked the whole place as a group loved it! wonderful garden & outdoor area for us all to gather as a group. Proximity couldnt be better. The units are quaint, roomy & well appointed. Everything suited us. Will be back for sure.

I have been staying at the breakers almost monthly for 5 years. I travel with my job. staying in hotels constantly & return here to stay with my kids who live in the area. What I like is it doesnt feel like a Hotel Its proximity to town & spacious gardens give a different dimension to most accommodation. As far as value? pound for pound its as good as they come. The notion of there being mold in the place is wrong in 5 years I have categorically never seen any. Granted it is not a brand new building, nor is it 5 star but it is quirky , choc full of personality &clean . ..As someone who travels a lot let me say the world needs more places like this & less small minded reviewers.

Unlike the other reviewer we did stay here in summer. The accommodation is well located and about what you could expect for the price. It has a bit of a shabby chic appeal. But, there was a smell of mold when we arrived which only got stronger and stronger as we stayed and used the bathroom. It was strong enough to trigger asthma. I couldn't recommend Breakers to anyone unless they deal with the mold problem. We stayed there in December 2010.

This flat would be much better in summer. We found it to be mouldy smelling, peeling cement paint floors, old aluminium cookware, rickety old bed (which we were accused of breaking).
The grounds are lovely and would suit families with young kids but I'd search around before choosing this one
