“Beautiful property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014 via mobile

Stayed during the week for a 2 night conference. This property would be even more beautiful in winter. Log fires, great lounges, and little escapes throughout the hotel.
Rooms were beautiful, clean, and walked out onto a beautiful large balcony. I will be back with my wife, as this place just makes you relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Thank you

Thank you Matt for your great feedback. It is a beautiful setting and the public lounges are very inviting especially in winter when the fires are lit. We look forward to welcoming you back with your wife soon. Kind regards Robyn & Team

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay. The setting is lovely and the gardens are wonderful to walk around but that is where it ends. Checking in was quite straightforward however, we had to change our room as it was physically hard to manoeuvre a baby and pram up and down stairs. The room was like a shoebox. I can accept that size of room in a major city but in a rural setting this is of a very poor standard. We were part of a wedding where I believe over 20 rooms were booked out and the consensus was that all the rooms were small and pokey, no one liked the size. The price we paid was well over $265 per night and included breakfast. The staff at breakfast were hopeless led by an older gentleman who believed we were imposing on him. Twice on the Saturday and Sunday morning I had to remind him he was there to help us not make our stay unfriendly. An example of this was that tables for breakfast were set up outside the breakfast area as there was a large group in that had a wedding onsite (our wedding was offsite). As a result we were treated like 2nd class guests. Having arrived at breakfast early and with only 1 other table taken he led us to sit outside of the main breakfast area, when I said we did not wish to sit in this area he flatly refused to move us and told me that the breakfast area would be packed by 7.30am. Sadly, by 8am there was still only 1 other couple and we had left.

On checking out and wishing to distance ourselves from the Peppers brand there was a wait of over 30 minutes with approximately 10 people trying to check out and more behind me. There was only 1 person on the desk doing the check outs on a Sunday. A simple question is when your hotel is full and check out is by 11am why is there only 1 person working at the desk?

I have stayed at many Peppers resorts throughout Australia and they all fall in to this same category of looking pretty on the outside but fail on delivering on the inside.

There is no response necessary from management as it will just be excuses.

In the future I will be staying elsewhere until this brand sharpens up their game.

Dear Larry

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. It is very dissapointing to learn that we did not meet your expectation. Being a guest house built back in 1887 are rooms are not as large as those of modern Hotels however very well appointed. I have followed up with your comments regarding the staff member at breakfast and addressed the issue you raised. My apologies for the less thatn satisfactory service provided. With regards to checkout we did have two staff rostered on which is the normal standard for peak check-out times. On investigation the staff member was called away to assist another guest at the time you were checking out. I am sorry that this slowed down the check-out process. Once again my sincere apologies that we did not did not deliver our normal high service standard. I do hope you will visit other Peppers properties in the future. Kind regards Robyn & Team

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our all too brief stay at Peppers Craigieburn in January this year.
The hotel is so friendly and welcoming and relaxing in addition to being set in beautiful grounds in a beautiful part of New South Wales. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. We loved the atmosphere of the hotel. Sitting on the verandah in the shade looking at the view or sitting in the calm of the lounge were experiences to relish.
We also were bowled over by the food in the hotel restaurant. We were introduced to Executive Chef Warrick Brook who is responsible for the wonderful food. It is quite honestly some of the best we have ever tasted.
Warrick was very friendly and generous with both his time and knowledge. It was a treat and a privilege to meet him.
We are from England and sadly unlikely to be able to visit again for a while but if we do get the opportunity we will certainly be heading back to Peppers Craigieburn.
All best wishes to all at the hotel and thanks for a memorable stay.

Myself and a group of very close friends have been staying here for years. We have always found Craigieburn to be perfect in every aspect. We have our preferred Morton Wing rooms which we are very specific in requesting at each time of booking (yearly) and the staff always deliver on this. When we get to the property every year, we are straight on to the golf course. Followed by a tipple in the Lounge. Then casual dining in their Capella room (small room just off their Bar area which was great to then talk amongst friends in a nice quiet private space). Finished up with a game of snooker in the Billiards room. So many things to do.
I cannot compliment the staff enough. They are always there with a smile and willing to fulfill any and all of our requests. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else for a getaway in the Southern Highlands!
Thank you, Craigieburn. See you next year!

Room Tip: Speak to the property direct as the knowledge of rooms etc is spot on. Morton Wing is more convenie...

Picture waking up with a view over the Craigieburn golf course, mist rising with the promise of a day in a world past. We visited Craigieburn decades ago and the beautiful charm and aura of peace and harmony remains. A choice from many comfortable lounge areas provides the perfect environment for quiet reading and relaxation. Refreshment service is offered at the right level. In good weather, a pleasant formal garden awaits as an alternative. The highlight of our stay was dinner in Montfort's Dining Room. Executive Chef, Warrick Brook, has created a menu sourcing local produce (including edible flora from his garden) and very fresh seafood. The Entrée Tasting Plate was a delicious and entertaining journey. Being mid-week, we were very fortunate that Warrick was able to spend time chatting with us about the features behind the design of his menu. Highly recommend the overall Peppers Craigieburn experience. Sue & Peter

Room Tip: Room overlooking golf course.

We arrived 29th Dec 2013 for a one night stop over, whilst travelling down to Sydney. On arrival it just looks amazing every bit like the photo's. We had booked a room with balcony it was beautiful, with stunning view of the grounds. We ate in the restaurant that evening, the food was delicious and of good portion size. We relaxed in the bar afterwards lovely atmosphere. The breakfast the following morning was the best I have ever seen for choice and quality. Our only regret was not to have stayed longer. Thank you to all the staff that make it what it is.

Booked our staff strategy planning day here. Staff listened to our needs and offered a package that met our requirements. Property as a whole is beautiful without being ostentatious. Rooms can be a little noisy. Would use again and have no reservations in recommending for a business function. Look forward to going back with family.
