“Very enjoyable Mother's Day weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2014

Overall we had a lovely weekend. The reception staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. Our room, clean and inviting with a great view of the Golf course. The Day spa staff, very professional. The food in Harvey's restaurant, beautiful. The Mother's day lunch with Geoff Harvey on piano, delightful. However, the housekeeping staff, could probably learn a little. There were no bathrobes in our room, until we asked, we were lucky enough to have a late checkout of 12pm. But on two occasions prior to 12pm housekeeping knocked on our door. A little annoying.
We would definitely return to The Gibraltar and recommend to friends and family

We stayed here recently on a 2 night package which included 1/2 price lunch on Sunday, breakfast each morning and a wine tasting and cheese plate at Tertini winery. The hotel is very comfortable, our room was large (we stayed in the basic room), very clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent with Katherine at reception very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The lunch was delicious and having Geoff Harvey playing the piano in the restaurant / bar was fun. Breakfast on one morning was buffet and was surprisingly excellent ( I usually avoid hotel buffets) with the food regularly replenished. The second day it was al la carte and perfect. They even had a Nespresso machine for do it your self coffees. The only negative comment about this hotel is the architectural style which is Asian influenced and rather gloomy so does not exude a cosy highlands feel. The gym and pool are both well kept and more than adequate....the pool was beautifully warm. There is a fireplace in the breakfast room and shortly additional ones are to be installed in the bar and on the deck which should improve the cosy atmosphere. We would happily return here.

Room Tip: We had a basic room with an outlook over the car park and distant hills.. For a short stay we did no...

I had a two-day conference at this hotel and found this accommodation very enjoyable. The room I stayed was clearly oversized for a single traveller (two queenbed!) and so it was a pleasant surprise. It overlooked the expansive golf course and has a very well-appointed bathroom. It was a pity it was not fitted with a bath-tub. I found the room adequately lit and the bed was great for a restful sleep.

The carpet was dated and very thin-layered. I would love to have slippers supplied given how uncomfortable the carpet was walking barefoot in the room.

Catering was of a high standard as well as the conference facilities.

Room Tip: Second-floor room facing the golf course has truly amazing view.

We had a weekend golf package and when were given a room next to reception.Due to the layout of the hotel our room was basically 5 metres away from reception. There was a wedding at the hotel and the guests were very noisy the whole night. They also had a metal strip along the floor outside our room so that every time someone pulled their luggage pass our room we could hear an awful noise. We asked to be moved and was told the hotel was fully booked. No apology was offered or any gesture such as a free drink was made.
The golf course and spa were nice but we are not going to be back given the lack of concern about our complaint. It's a shame it's a very nice property in a fabulous location but our stay was completely spoiled.

Spent a weekend in the Southern Highlands on a great package. Perfect location to experince all the Highlands has to offer. The rooms are clean, modern, large, quite and comfortable. Check-in staff very pleasant and helpful. Bar was top shelf but restaurant was just OK, but there are many places to eat in Bowral and would suggest you get out and about to explore all they have to offer. Visitor centre coming into Mittagong provides many options for exploring the Highlands area and it couldnt be prettier with all the autumn colour.

I guess if you are a golfer is the place for you, otherwise don't bother.
Dark place (probably to hide the aged and damaged carpet).
Make sure you ask for a room for able people unless you are disabled.
TV selection is hopeless. Just country channels with limited selection.
WIFI excellent - something good about the place.
Service good.
Cleanness of room good.
Breakfast not too bad at all.

Located approx. 1.5 hours outside of Sydney, this hotel provided a good change of pace from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. A warning to tourists wanting to see the sights in Bowral--many of the shops and sights close early, which was a huge disappointment because the city actually has some very cute mom-and-pop shops with unique, one-of-a-kind items. Stayed here 3 nights, and overall, the hotel was OK. The hotel's decor is very dark (dark paint on walls and very low lighting), which is a shame because some parts of the hotel have great outdoor views. Perhaps the dark decor is to hide the carpet throughout the hotel which is in terrible condition, is extremely worn, and is in desperate need of replacement.

Definitely ask for a room that faces the golf course. The rooms that face the parking lot certainly do not provide a good view--just a drab looking parking lot.

The hotel's website talk up both the food and service. With a world renown chef at this hotel, I certainly expected a lot better quality and more flavorful food, which I felt was only average. The service was just OK. The front desk clerk could not recommend a nearby restaurant that was open for dinner on a Sunday night. Really?! I ended up finding one on my own via the Internet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the side of the golf course, which offers beautiful scenery and quiet. Otherwise...
