“Wow. The restaurant is fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2010

We dined at the Pavillion restaurant and were thrilled with each of the meals. The girls had two entres and the guys had mains. All of the meals were gourmet standard and delicious. All portions were beautifully presented and generous. We followed with a shared platter of heavenly sweet dishes. It was a wonderful surprise this lovely dining experience. We congratulated the chef who was happy to meet us. The staff also were just brilliant. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

we stay here nearly every time we go to berry which is generally once every 3-4 months for the fantastic berry markets... the location is perfect.. central and within walking distance to all restaurants..we've tryed the restaurant in the motel and its DIVINE, but pricey as the rooms are.. i dont know whether its just because of the weekend of the markets that the room rate seem so high? we are from sydney and know of very nice places to stay for not much more than this hotel so why so expensive we not sure? aside from that rooms are clean and we find them comfortable and staff are great so all in all we will keep going. p.s. try and get brekfast included in room rate as it is GREAT!

Many of the comments here had focused on the lack of 'boutique' features, but I found the motel to be as advertised. It is a more modern property but is upmarket for a hotel and the restaurant and pool areas in particular are inviting and trendy. The rooms are large and clean, not terribly stylish but there has been some recent renovation with what looks like a new feature wall and furniture. Service was fine. The location is fantastic, walking distance to everything. However, the restaurant was the highlight - I was told a new chef had just taken over and I did the tasting menu which would have been at home in any top establishment in Sydney. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of items including some more unusual offerings. Overall this is a good place to stay as long as you can live with the idea of 'modern boutique' rather than a more classical style.

I dont know what all the fuss is about. I stayed here recently and had an amazing time. Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful and the "light" breakfast included in our room rate was an amazing buffet with fresh fruit, home made yoghurt and more than acceptable coffee (hot food and other coffees were available for extra cost). Dinner was simply the best meal I have ever had and very reasonable. There is a new chef in and he has created a menu of fantastic fresh food with superb presentation.

The rooms were spotlessly clean and had plenty of space. There has obviously been some renovation done with some creature features added (I stayed in a deluxe room with a 80cm flatscreen and very comfy couch). Some more colour would be good but everything worked and looked nice. The pool area was under renovation but it was too cold to swim anyway.

Fantastic place for getting away for a few days. Being in the heart of town is so worth it. Wine/chocolates package was really nice too.

Have stayed here twice. This motel is okay. If you are looking for a bed and a shower it does the job. The room rate is okay for a weeknight. Heating was good, bathroom was large, TV worked well. Great location, right in the heart of Berry walking distance to everything including shops & restaurants.

Stayed for a Saturday night - a quick getaway from Sydney. Booked through lastminute.com - paid AUD$250 for a Spa Room.

This is Berry, NOT Sydney CBD - so the room-only rate is very steep indeed. I agree with previous posts - this is not a boutique hotel, and the fact they are in a central location in town means they will survive, but they must surely stop selling themselves as Boutique. Maybe they think a photo of a cow above the bed is "boutique" - or should that be "moo-tique"?

For the record, we had a room at the back of the property (Room 101) which made it quieter. The bed could've been bigger. The Spa was roomy. The fridge was noisy. The doors in the corridor need to be fitted with closers, or rubber seals - the banging of doors first thing Sunday morning was a real turn-off. Yes, that may not be the fault of the hotel, but still, it has been addressed at other, finer establishments for which you pay the same or less per night.

We didn't eat at the hotel , preferring to eat out - there are a handful of places in Berry. The motel is located within easy walking distance to shops, pubs and eateries, so leaving the car at the hotel to explore is a great option. Recommend Jetz Cafe for breakfast - same side of Queen Street as the motel.

My partner and I were attracted to this "boutique" motel by the nice pictures on the website of a funky bar/restaurant and stylish pool area. We should have questioned why there were hardly any photos of the actual rooms on the site and instead, multiple pictures of the lounge and pool. The reason for this is because the rooms are a hideous beige and floral nightmare, that look like a conservation project from a 1970's rural bed and breakfast. The rooms were clean and of a decent size, but judging by the price and the poetic licence of the word "boutique" to describe the place, the initial reaction when you enter the room for the first time is one of mixed confusion, disorientation and disbelief at the amount of money they've just spruiked from you, for this period motel experience. This is disgracefully overpriced and clearly the business is just trying to captialise on the booming trendyness of Berry, but this is a rip off. It's a bog standard roadside motel masquerading as some kind of funky "sleepery". The one saving grace and its sole raison d'etre is its peerless location smack bang in the middle of the town, with easy access to restaurants and pubs. For this reason alone, this place will continue to do business and probably thrive. Lets hope they put some of that money back into refurbishing the rooms and updating them by 3 decades to reflect the name and claim of the place.
