3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

Stayed 1 night here recently...what you see it what you get...just had 1 double bed room...TV wasn't that flash and didn't work that well, small bar fridge didn't get cold....older style shower...but i guess it is Belmont..cannot expect to much.....but staff were helpful..even if they did struggle to know answers to questions...main problem though is rooms do not have direct phone access, if you need to call someone in their room you need to get the receptionist to go get them or after hours (that being midday on a weekend) you have to wait till morning...
If you need to stay for a night it wont kill you...

I stayed in Squids Ink for one night with my wife and 2 kids (6yrs and 3 yrs). We had booked a "Twin room with own kitchenette living area and Veranda which had 1 Queen bed and 2 Single beds". What it turned out to be was a one bedroom unit with the 2 single beds in the living room. The verandah was the corridor/walkway that led to the room. The room had no curtains and broken blinds which didn't cover the entire length of the doors/windows. It was impossible to make the room dark for the kids to sleep. The restaurant is closed so no breakfast or dinner options are avalable. The kitchenette had no amenities - including not plates or bowls. It is right next to the freeway and very noisy too. I would not recommend this place.

On a positive note, it is well located near the lake - but getting to any restaurant is about a 10 minute drive. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and tidy when we arrived.

Reception was polite and friendly. We had booked through an online site for $125 for a lake view room. If you don't like noise and can tolerate a small room go for a lake view room.

As the old saying goes you get what you pay for. The room was tiny but clean. Bathroom old fashioned with no separate door for toilet. Most annoying thing was the timer on the bathroom light and fan and no separate control for the fan.

Basic amenities. If you intend to unwind and sit out watching the sunset make sure you have your own glasses for the drinks. We did not try the restaurant due to bad past reviews. But it may have changed with new owners.

We would stay again for one or two nights as long as we were not paying much over $100.

I stayed at Squid's Ink in August 10, just after new management had taken over the motel and restaurant. The new staff were very accommodating and were excited about its future. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious and I had no complaints. There is some traffic noise but it wasn't enough to bother my sleep (even though I'm a light sleeper!).

I didn't get to try the restaurant unfortunately, as they were in the process of renovations. Was pleasing to see the place looking up as its an amazing location with so much potential. Hope to stay again when they get it finished.

We were booked in for two nights but our room was so small we bailed to another nicer motel nearby.

Our room looked over the bay which was nice and being at the rear was quiet.

The larger rooms are at the front but very near the busy road?

The web site promises a lot but be warned. The staff were appalling; they could not care less and just brush off any comments so, don't bother!

dOutdated, overprices and outahere!

We had a Spa Room and it was really nice. The room was huge and the spa was great!
It was a little on the pricey side though. But for us it was the only place left the time we stayed.
I didn't like the fact that one of the kid's beds was set up under the window so the light from the balcony shone on his face all night.

I have read bad reviews here before i booked at this hotel but since i saw some really awesome photos about the sunset here i gave it a shot but then i realized it was a big mistake..other than i didnt saw any sunset at all since the sky was all covered with dark clouds, our room is very small, but thats what exactly all the reviews says here but the biggest disappointment is the bed..we woke up itching our body..hmm maybe it wasnt washed well or havent been changed for a long time lol..and the TV reception is so poor, it says it has cable but the only fairly clear reception is the local one. I didn't like the window and door..the door seems fragile and felt like someone might break in at night. Just one last word about this hotel, try to get other hotels in the area instead.
