“Not a thing for bride and groom on wedding night!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012 via mobile

My brother got married in the hills and so quite a few of us stayed at the Hotel for 2 or 3 nights. I was really shocked to hear afterwards that although they knew who the bride and groom were, they didn't so much as give them a bunch of flowers or box of chocolates in their hotel room, nor even a special welcome message in the lobby. Everything else was great but seriously, for an international high end hotel how could they be so unprofessional?

We stayed at the Ramada for two nights and I would highly recommend it.The room had a lovely view of the marina and river. It was very modern and had everything you wanted,The appliances, decor and furnishings were all up to date and in perfect condition.I would definetly stay here again. It is in short walking distance to the main town and restaurants, pubs and convenience stores. There is a wonderful boardwalk walk right in front and the Maritime museum is a short distance away

Room Tip: A river view is a must.

We stayed for 3 nights in a river view one bedroom apartment. The room was well appointed with a comfortable king size bedroom with wall mounted TV, a kitchenette (microwave, 2 hotplates, crockery, cutlery etc), a lounge with LCD TV & dining area, bathroom (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, dual basins, hairdryer, shower cap, etc). Our room had a good shower but some also come with a spa bath. There is a balcony and table & chairs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony of the river is superb. I watched the dolphins swimming the river in the morning. Although we didn't use the gym we did see that it was well equipped. The pool is clean and there were sufficient sun beds. My only comment would be that consideration might be given to some more umbrellas for shade. The main hotel restaurant has a great view onto the river. We ate breakfast which was very nice. The hotel also has an Indian and Italian restaurant. We ate the the Indian one night and enjoyed it. There is a fantastic board walk along the riverside which extends from the Ramada to the Ballina RSL. I saw a couple of turtles and some were having success with fishing for flathead. Some people ride bikes along it. My only comment is that our room wasn't serviced one day but when I mentioned at reception this was attended to. The staff are pleasant and polite. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay and we would visit again.

Having not been to Ballina for about 10 years and there's been some good development, appropriate to the area. It's a lovely regional town with some nice shops to browse. My husband & I had a game of golf at the Teven Golf Course and enjoyed the scenic drive. There are nice beaches nearby and it's easy to have a day trip to Lennox Heads up to Byron Bay and its lighthouse; stopping for walks, lunch etc.

Room Tip: Definitely choose the riverside rooms. We initially wanted to book the poolside but none available...

This is a quality hotel in a good location with excellent facilities. The concern is that there are many rooms that have partial or no river views. If your a corporate customer ok, but if your paying full rates one expects to get a good room and not to have to ask for a change.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a full river view.

Dear mrdonaldmac, Thank you for your positive review of the Ramada Hotel in Ballina, it is a good tip to ask for a full river view upon booking if this is your preference and we are more than happy to accommodate based upon availability. Thank you once again, Karen Whiteford, General Manager

On a whim we decided to spend a few nights in Ballina. We were lucky enough to choose the Ramada.
We were welcomed very warmly at the front desk. Our room was ready and we went to our 1 bedroom apartment on the 6th floor with a fantastic river view, in fact a view all the way to the ocean!
Our room was clean and everything worked!
Our only complaint was the loud door slams from our neighbours, as has been noted previously, we understand this is a fire requirement, and didn't notice it during the night.
We really enjoyed our stay and will be back!!

Was posted to Lismore for work for a week but stayed here every night. It was the best and possibly most luxurious accommodation nearest to Lismore. Upon arrival service was prompt and I had a one bedroom suite all to myself. Full kitchen, double sink in the bathroom, lounge area, balcony, large shower area, large bed, good food downstairs at the restaurant. Can't get any better than that.

Only downside that I have experienced is the speed of service at the restaurant. The food we ordered took close to 45 minutes before it was served. It happened twice. Once when the place was full so we were quite forgiving but the second night it wasn't. Wasn't too impressed with that.

The fitness centre was average, suffice for a quick workout but you're better off going for a run along the river. Very nice view and very nice sea/river breeze too.

Location of the hotel is perfect, I took a short walk along the river to the RSL next door (it was a nice short walk) they serve quite good food too.

Great location and lovely river view from our room. Free secure hotel parking, and nice, friendly staff. Room was clean, but some insects in room, probably from an open balcony door before we checked in. Bed too soft for our preference and hard on our backs. Nice balcony with small table and chairs, but couldn't use because smoking is permitted on balconies, and we were chased inside by smoke from the guests below. Room doors close automatically, actually slam quite loudly. WiFi is $5/day. Refrigerator in room, and 2 comfy chairs and a table, plus small desk in room.

We appreciated the washer and dryer which was shared by just 2 rooms and was secured from the general hotel hallway by a separate locked door to the 2 rooms.

Our biggest issue was the ill-fitting, weird shutter (no window, shutter only) between the bathroom and bedroom which offered little bathroom privacy and also flooded the bedroom with light if the bathroom was needed during the night. Our room was probably still a good value at approximately A$140/night. We would stay again if there are rooms with a wall between bath and bedroom instead of the shutters. Did not try any of the 2 to 3 restaurants in the hotel.
