For the area, this is the best hotel, at the best price too. My brother and wife stay here all the time when they come to Polzeath and I booked to stay in September 2012.
Note: This review is about a year late in witting it (sorry). So the "When did you travel?" part is wrong.
It is a great little B&B, with the benefit of having a pub downstairs. The accommodation hasn’t been renovated for many years and is very old fashioned; however it is not too grotty and is very clean.
Should this B&B be anywhere else, I probably wouldn't book to stay there specifically, so with no offence to the management, who were lovely I might add, I only stayed here because of its location.
For the price, it can be forgiven for being old fashioned and the location is fantastic. It is in easy drive to many of the local places of interest; 5 minutes to Polzeath and Rock, 10 minutes to Port Isaac (from memory).
The room I had was on the top floor, with a double and single bed (3 people). There was no bath, only a small electric shower - it was quite cramped. The room was spacious, with towels and drinks making facilities. It had a little TV on the wall too. I was very warm too.
I thought having the bar downstairs was great, but to go anywhere else for a night out, the Oystercatcher for example is a good walk away, so you’d need to drive or get a taxi, but remember in the area taxis are very limited. The Fourways pub serves really good bar meals, the food isn’t amazing, but definitely not awful – it does the job. There is also darts and a pool table.
Next time I go to Polzeath and only want to stay somewhere for a few nights, I’ll stay here again.
