“Okay accommodation, good site, some isuues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We had a warm welcome to the site and it is a very family friendly place, has lots of amenities and was a good base from which to explore Cornwall.

We used the swimming pool a few times, but as we were just out of season, it only opened at 10 a.m. and closed at 6, so couldn't use it before we went out, and just got about 30 minutes in after getting in.

We stayed in one of the cottages and whilst it was clean, comfortable and well equipped there 3 issues that meant we didn't really want to spend much time there.

1. The cottage smelt very damp when we got in, they had a humidifier going when we got in, but there were noticeable patches on the wall between the main room and the bathroom, which seemed to have a leak. "No biggie!" we thought just open the doors and windows and air it out, unfortunately, after a day or 2 the smell didn't leave and it took a long time for towels to dry out.

2. Wi-Fi: The site claims to have wi-fi throughout but you have to pay extra to use it (£10 a week) only 1 device at a time. The reception in our cottage was low, we were lucky if we ever got more than 2 bars, and it was very slow. I couldn't see an AP anywhere so couldn't see where the signal was originating.

3. TV reception, we have a 2 yr old so most evening were spent in, so we thought we'd watch the TV on a couple of evenings, this was extremely frustrating as the signal in both TVs (front and bed rooms) continually cut out, in the end we gave up. We would have watched iPlayer on the laptop, but again, the signal was weak so proved impossible.

As I said, a friendly place, good amenities, the cottages looked new, but I get the feeling we'd have been better camping there or in a caravan.

We first visited Tregoad 10 years ago on our honeymoon and thought we would go back to celebrate 10 years marriage. On arrival the staff were friendly and informative and gave out clear instructions We stayed in one of the 3 static caravan on site and was pleasantly surprised. The bed and the bedding were the most comfy we had ever had in a caravan. The van on a whole was spotless and the only niggles was that you had to light the cooker with a match as the ignition had gone and the remote for the Free sat box was broken but the park warden was apologetic. We had just timed the holiday right as the school holidays had just finished and by the Monday the park was lovely and quiet. The park itself was spotlessly clean and tidy and the wardens were always around maintaining it. Unfortunately we chose not to visit the Tregoad Tavern but from the outside it looked clean and tidy as did the pool.
watch out if you want Wifi as it cost either £10 for the week or £2 a day and the connection is not that great, the signal kept dropping out and I was close to the router.

Looe itself is a wonderful fishing harbour with boats hustling about the Harbour. There are many shops to explore in the town but beware the traffic down the narrow streets and of course the famous Banjo pier on the sea front. If you want some really great food that doesn't cost the earth dine at the Harbour Moon in West Looe its fantastic.

Looe is a great base to explore Cornwall and I would recommend Tregoad as that base. Whatever your taste from camping, caravanning, Cottages Tregoad has the lot.

We received a very friendly welcome on arrival and a welcome pack full of useful information. We stayed there for 2 nights in one of there camping pods. Seemed like a good idea as we didn't want the hassle of taking the tent.
Firstly it was much smaller than we thought, we managed to get 3 single inflatable beds inside but that was it, no other room and difficult to walk inbetween them. We had 3 electric sockets inside, a light, a few hooks to hang clothes on etc and a dustpan and brush hanging up on the wall. Be warned, we were in camping pod 1 and if you access it from the side when its been raining its VERY SLIPPERY on the decking outside. Both my husband and myself slipped over. It did become very hot inside overnight and that was with temperatures not that hot during the day. But there is a window at the back you can open. Because the floor is lino it means that whenever you move on your inflatable bed it makes noise, something that kept us awake and so for those reasons we would never use one again
We went to the childrens disco and my son loved it up there. They had bingo with very good cash prizes. Didn't use any of the other facilities.

This was our second visit to Tregoad and this time we went with friends. We camped and our friends took their caravan. It's a really nice campsite with good facilities and the shower blocks/toilets were always clean. There's a shop, bar and restaurant and although the entertainment is quite cheesy at least they put effort in! Theres also a pool and jacuzzi, which was nice on a rainy day. The site was full over the bank holiday and the only issue we had was the electric cut out a couple of nights in a row for about 10 mins but they soon sorted it. The site has lovely views and is only minutes drive away from Looe. We will go back!

We stayed here with the kids during Easter. Upon arrival staff were friendly and inviting. Facilities were modern and clean and there was plenty of hot water for showers. We used the indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi on a daily basis and these were also kept clean and warm and never became too busy.
The kids really enjoyed the evening disco and particularly the cinema.
The bar provided great evening entertainment and pub prices with good food. In the day we ventured to Looe which was only a mile away and here there was lots to do and see.
The park had a friendly and relaxed atmosphere we would definitely stay here again.

Arrived with three other Guys to use this park as a base for our walking holiday. Malcolm and Yvonne the site managers went the extra mile to look after us and accommodate us with our requests. The pool and the Jacuzzi were spotlessly clean. The new bar manager produced food to a good standard, all in all an excellent holiday. Thank you.

Stayed in one of the cottages last week and upon opening the door to the cottage the smell of damp and mustyness was horrid. We went straight out and bought air freshner and had the heating on full for 24hrs to try and get rid of the smell. Still there when we left today - 7 days later. Have just come home and washed absolutely everything even clean clothes to get rid of the smell. Cottage had every thing that you need for a week. Lady on the front desk needs to learn a few manners and become child friendly!!!! Wont say anymore but she hadnt been there long, so she said, and if she worked for me, she wouldnt be there now. Had telephoned a couple of weeks to find out about any entertainment for the children as half term, was told a few disco's would take place. Totally nothing. Not even a note. No bar food for two nights. Had to ask for the games room to be opened so that we could have a go in there. Cinema closed too. Play park needs tidying up and the mini golf was closed for refurb!!!! Pool nice but cold. So nothing to do. All the things mentioned on the website and over the phoned didnt happen. Lovely area, shame it didnt live up to its description. Wont be going back or recommending it to anyone either.
