“A Special Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We recently spent a day at The Lost Gardens and had a very enjoyable experience. The North Garden was lovely and we were fortunate that the dry weather enabled us to explore the area thoroughly. We appreciated the formal gardens and beautiful trees.

After a tasty snack lunch in the restaurant (averages prices and especially delicious cakes; hot food also available) we ventured into the Jungle area. This is a wonderfully planted area which deserves time to enjoy and do justice to the ponds, trees and walkways. We felt this was the highlight.

We spent the best part of a day here and still did not manage to see everything but the information boards gave us a good taster of the origins of the garden and we shall certainly re-visit when we next go to Cornwall.

“A day well spent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

Beautiful gardens. Delightful formal areas and amazing ancient rhododendrons must be seen to be believed.
Loved the veg gardens too.
Something for everyone, children can run around (on the paths obviously!). Some steep areas but your visit can be what you want it to be, a leisurely stroll or a more strenuous walk.
Lovely tea rooms.
Best bit for me was the plant centre where you can buy some of the gorgeous plants at very reasonable prices.
We spent half a day here, but you could happily spend longer as there is so much to see.

“More than flowers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We visited the Lost Gardens on a cold and windy late May Day, however the weather could not dampen our enthusiasm for this wonderful place. The rhododendrons were in full bloom, as were plenty of other species, making innumerable photo opportunities. Before commencing our walk around the gardens, we read some of the history of the area and the background to the restoration of the gardens which is almost as fascinating as the gardens themselves. There is so much to see there that you could easily spend the entire day. We found the kitchen gardens particularly interesting and so was the Jungle.
There is a lot of walking to cover the entire area and some of it is quite steep, but well worth the effort if you can possibly make it.

“Fascinating Gardens”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

A whole day is a must to do justice to these gardens. Knowing a little of their history adds to the interest; we appreciated the photos and information boards dotted about giving information about 'before and after'. We visited on a bitterly cold (June!) day and appreciated both the warmer climate of the Jungle Walk and the hot food and drinks in the cafe. Delicious 'home-made' lemon cake. The kitchen garden was extensive and interesting and well-labelled. The workers were happy to share their information and expertise.

Do visit the wonderful Eden Project as well but don't compare - they are totally different experiences and complement each other.
