“Good place for lunch on the go”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

The restaurant is on the site of a country store (Griggs Country Store) which we visit regularly for farm supplies. They opened the restaurant in a custom built building last year but we only tried it recently when we were visiting and needed quick lunch. Food was excellent; we have a very large place of bread and olive oil / balsamic to start; my wife had a very large fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce while I had a special of hake wrapped in pancetta with a light bean salad and sauté potatoes. Service was very efficient, definitely a good spot for a quick lunch.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2014 via mobile

Stopped at Griggs on the way home from a holiday cottage in Newlyn. Only stopped because my son was desperate for the loo but once we got inside and saw the food we decided to give it a try. We had the fish finger sarnies and butternut squash and thyme quiche. All of the food was really good - obviously fresh and cooked to order with generous portions and crisp fresh salad. The fish fingers were more a homemade fish cake and we really enjoyed them. Service was friendly, prompt and efficient and the staff attentive and approachable. Including drinks our bill came to approx £25 which I thought was good value. Our experience of local pubs is that u would be spending at least £10 more and more than likely for smaller portions and less fresh food. As we're were on the road we didn't indulge in alcohol but I noticed others with beer and wine and relaxing in pleasant surroundings. All in all, I would wholeheartedly recommend griggs. Just a shame we're not nearer.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I am so glad to hear that you all enjoyed your visit to us. We are very conscious regarding pricing and as all of our food is homemade and home cooked it affords us to be extremely competitive and offer great value portions for our guests. Thank you again, we hope to welcome you back on your next holiday to Cornwall.

“lunch meeting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

I have eaten at Griggs twice now, once in April 2014 and then again in June 2014. Two different meals and consistently high quality with generous portions, local produce and great flavour combinations. Cannot recommend highly enough.

“A pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

Came for lunch with an elderly relative and was very pleasantly surprised how amazing the lunch service was. Started off by ample parking, followed by the magical glass lift!..then the welcoming staff, who helped with the lack of explanation of how to open the lift door once arrived at the level of choice. Bright an airy resturant was large and a very large glass window that led onto a very sunny ( it had just stopped raining so even more welcoming) decking area! It was much more modern, clean and welcoming than .. Maybe trelawny garden centre lunch resturant on comparison. The food... Well it was amazing! So tasty, yummy and beautifully presented. I had the goats cheese, walnut and pear with honey salad- Deffinetly a winner. Pears were refreshing and juicy and complimented with focaccia bread. Ample portion and very fresh and hopefully local produce! My family also very much enjoyed their lunches too! Brilliant to see the chefs in the kitchen working away whilst we ate our lunch. Toilets were clean and tidy, music playing and special loo roll. The only niggle was dessert.. The cake was very dry.. And not up to the same wow factor standard of lunch. Shame, but if it was homemade of course cakes don't last forever and id rather it was homemade with love rather than processed shop brought that lasts forever and full of preservatives. The other cakes and desserts looked yummy but unfortunately the coffee maybe needed eating up a few days ago prior to our visit. Nevermind did not spoil our family lunch! Love your ethos and design! Keep up the friendly and welcoming style you appear to have:)

Thank you so much for your lovely review of your lunchtime visit to us. I am so pleased to hear that you all enjoyed your visit, our new salads have really taken off this summer! I am sorry to hear that the coffee cake was a little dry, all of our cakes and desserts are homemade but we would have been more than happy to have changed it for another cake of your choosing. Thank you again, we hope to welcome you and your family back soon.
