“Fifth visit and just keeps getting better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

Just returned from our fifth visit to Bosinver, this time staying in Hillside. Like the last reviewers, we wondered if we had outgrown the resort or would be bored, but how wrong we were. I think that this was our best trip ever. Hillside was smaller than the other properties we have stayed in, but was quiet, cozy, and expertly cleaned. It also has a wonderful conservatory overlooking the meadow of happy horses, bunnies, and chickens, which was the venue for many glasses of wine after the children had gone to bed. By the end of the week, we had decided that Hillside is our new favourite, although we always say that at the end of a Bosinver trip. But the cottage is just the tip of the iceberg. There is just so much to do on site at Bosinver that we were utterly exhausted by the end of each day while finding that we hadn't gone anywhere ... Animal feeding, pony riding, playbarn, playground, trampoline, zip wire, games room, wild kids club, forest and farm hunts, and to top it all off, the beautiful new indoor swimming pool. This was one of our best holidays ever, and it is so wonderful after all of these years to see how confident the children are on the farm and in the forest. Pat, Dave, Helen, and Elaine do such a wonderful job. We've already booked for next year.

Room Tip: The cottages are all lovely and all have individual character.

We have just returned from our second holiday to Bosinver and although a little worried it wouldnt live up to our first stay here, it by far exceeded expectations. SIMPLY MAGICAL.

This year Mum, Dad, two children ( 5 and 2), and Grandma stayed in the wonderful and extremely spacious upside down house called ` Higher Hill`. The decor and styling was amazing and upon arrival absolutely spotless.

Our two boys loved the daily animal feeding ( except sat) and the weekly pony riding session. Our 5 yr old had eagerly waited 1 whole year to cook marshmallows on the campfire and together with making and throwing mud balls, building a swans home and making bashing bunting the ` wild kids` session was a definite highlight!
Even when it rained we were able to set out on an adventure in our wellies and onsie waterproofs, completing one of the many trails the brilliant team at Bosinver had put together.

The playbarn is brilliant, and provides a perfect place for the kids to play early evening whilst dinner is cooking.

The indoor pool is wonderful and kept impeccably clean. We went swimming every day and although all the cottages were all booked only twice did we have to share the pool! Our eldest learnt to swim unaided for the first time, a truely special and unforgettable moment!

The zip wire, slide, trampoline and other play areas are a definite hit with the kids and never once did the children watch television.

We were able to borrow books from the childrens library, borrow buckets, spades, nets and body boards for the beach and Mum and Dad even squeezed in their yearly tennis match whilst Grandma babysitted of an evening!

Bosinver is a true Gem of a place, i am sooo glad we were able to book again for next year as no other holiday could ever beat it!

Many thanks to the Bosinver Team

We have just returned from our holiday at Bosinver in cornwall what a lovely time we all had . It was my ninth time and this time stayed in Pentree . Everytime we visit there is always something added to make the holiday even more special ......thanks Pat Dave and Helen..... who run it so so well. The indoor heated pool is fab we couldn't get our two year old out she kept saying more more. The boys loved the games room and welcomed free pool and the trail challenged even my teenager. I have booked for the next two years .....cant wait to come again thankyou Caroline Steve Jordan Jenson and Scarlett

Room Tip: if you have under fives stay near playbarn very handy

Our party was 4 adults and 2 children aged 8 and 4. We had 2 "adjoining" houses, Pear and Apple. Everything and everywhere was spotlessly clean ( apart from the farmyard but that is down to Dave). The all free facilities are marvellous. The owner Dave (he prefers to be known as farmer Dave) is lovely with children ensuring all get a fair turn at feeding chickens and ducks etc. He always has a smile on his face and clearly loves to delight parents and children alike. One night he organised a 15 a side football match and ran around the pitch non stop for an hour (how did you feel the next day farmer Dave.

I understand Bosinver is fully booked for this half term week next year so you need to get in quick to beat the "regulars".

Many thanks to Dave and his team !

Room Tip: all houses are sufficiently far apart to ensure peace and quiet

We have just returned from our first visit to Bosinver. We had a fantastic week in Olearia cottage which was right in the middle of the play area - sandwiched between the swings and trampoline out the front door and the slides and farm themed play equipment at the back, so toddler heaven for our twins (nearly 3). The cottage itself was well equipped and furnished, and spotless on our arrival (complete with milk, cake and coffee/tea/sugar). We were able to pre-order booster seats so didn't need to worry about packing those. We could also borrow rain suits, buckets and spades and other beach paraphernalia, BBQs and even wellies if we needed them! The on-site (all inclusive) activities would have been enough to amuse us all. The children loved the daily animal feeding/egg collecting (omelettes for lunch!) and are still full of 'Farmer Dave'. The woodland on the farm is beautiful and we enjoyed the Grufallo trail, tunnel slide, tyre swing and zip wire in the woods. The 'wild kids' session was really well delivered given the young age of the participants; making fairy jewellery, magic wands and toasting our marshmallows on the fire. Pony grooming and I think pony rides were also an option for older children. The indoor solar heated swimming pool was an absolute bonus, a new building and clearly built to a really high standard. The play barn was great, although due to good weather we only used it once. Gym equipment for adults, comfy couch and stereo so you could either chill out or work out whilst the children played on the soft play. Again all spotlessly clean and well maintained. A laundry on site was great for a midweek wash of dirty clothes.

Despite the fabulous facilities at Bosinver we did venture out to the Toddler friendly beach at Fowey (Readymoney beach - take your buggy as decent walk back up the hill to the carpark), Lappa Valley and the excellent Maritime Museum in Falmouth.

On pulling up on our drive at home our son declared 'I want to do back to the Holiday House'. Fortunately I booked the same cottage for the same week next year before we had even left so we will definitely be back.

We have recently returned from a short break at Bosinver, and would like to share our feedback on the visit. Bosinver is a family friendly complex of cottages, perfect for young children. The facilities are very good, and there are plenty of activities to entertain all, ranging from animal feeding , pony riding, and a well run session called 'wild kids' in the local woods. There is also an impressive soft play area, and an indoor pool. The accommodation was of a high standard, with adequate space between cottages to ensure privacy. Our children loved the experience.

There were however a number of issues that disappointed us, primarily related to the style of customer service we experienced at Bosinver. When we arrived, there was no-one to be seen for about 15 minutes, and the mobile numbers provided as ports of call if the office was empty both went to answer phone - not what you want after a long journey. There was no apology for this at any stage. When we arrived at our house, we noticed that only 2 out of 4 bedrooms had been made up with bedding - when we asked why this was the owner seemed unsure, and brought us some bedding, again without an apology. We had to make the bed up ourselves. The housekeeper later accepted that this was her fault, as she had assumed we would only want 2 bedrooms(!), but either way for the price you pay at Bosinver, such assumptions should not be made.

Likewise, we had pre-ordered towels for our cottage prior to arriving (as an aside I don't feel one should have to pay extra for towels given the high price mark on the cottages). When we mentioned it, towels were delivered, but again we were made to feel that we were being an inconvenience, with the housekeeper mentioning that she had had to come in on her day off to sort these issues - I explained this was not my problem and if the front desk had actually been manned properly this would not have been necessary. Our patio door also didn't lock properly - we were told it was perfectly safe at Bosinver and there should be no worries regarding this. Our cottage was near a main road, and we had a child sleeping downstairs. The issue was solved in the end with a key that turned half way, enough to prevent opening of the door, but again this should have been checked by the cleaning staff prior to our arrival.

Overall (with the exception of a lady called Elaine who was very helpful), we found
the style of service at bosinver to be abrupt and not very customer centred. The staff often appeared unconcerned by our problems, and this contrasts unfavourably with experiences we have had at similar complexes, some not all that far away from Bosinver. Although as a venue for young families we would recommend Bosinver, we feel it is fair that other potential guests are aware of what they could experience from a customer service point of view.

Dear guest
Thank you for your feedback. It is very rare for us to receive a rating of anything other than excellent or very good so we would like to take this opportunity to respond in detail to your review. We are glad that your children loved their experience here at Bosinver and that you acknowledge the high standard of our accommodation and the facilities we include at no extra cost. We aim to provide the best family friendly self-catering in Cornwall, something which is validated by the numerous awards we have won over the years. We are a family run business, operating with a small hard working team who do their utmost to try to meet our guests’ needs. Just occasionally however, guests’ expectations exceed what we can reasonably deliver. In this instance you arrived on a Sunday afternoon – although Dave was on site, we cannot be present in the office building 24/7 which is why we supply contact numbers for any times when the office is not manned. Our housekeeper came away from a meal with friends at a restaurant (by taxi as she doesn’t drive) to help you as soon as she could. The towels, as acknowledged, were an oversight but this unfortunately arose from your late request for them. The beds were made up exactly as you had requested on your booking. Regarding the patio door, we aim to fix or replace any item that needs attention as soon as we can, but can only do so when it is drawn to our attention and as quickly as we can get a specialist workman in to fix it. We do care about any concerns our guests may have, which is why we encourage them to tell us about any issues during their stay and also ask for feedback by questionnaire on their return home. We will, of course, take note of the points you have made but are glad that, despite these, you would still recommend Bosinver to others (as would 100% of guests surveyed). With best wishes Pat and Dave Smith

Bosinver Farm is perfect for a Hen Weekend, a great base for planning and arranging holidays for large groups. The paddock right on our doorstep allowed for more energetic games of onesie & welly rounders. The jacuzzi at Lowen cottage was a big highlight for all the girls! We loved it and we're definitely visiting again.
