“Already booked my next holiday to Bosinver”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2011

We've been to Bosinver twice - stayed once in Higher Hill and once in Hydrangea - and have already booked our third holiday there next autumn. This year we stayed for a week in which it rained every day and in which our youngest child had a vomiting bug ... and yet we still had a great time! That's how good it is. Bosinver is probably the best self-catering establishment we've stayed in anywhere in the world. The cottages are spotlessly clean yet comfortable with no 'niggles' at all. Comfortable beds, well-stocked kitchen, and appliances that actually work. Each cottage has its own character and each has sufficient privacy to make you feel as if you are not in a holiday village. Bosinver farm itself is full of incredible activities for the family, from feeding the animals each morning, to collecting eggs from the henhouse, to riding the ponies, to swimming in the incredibly warm outdoor pool, to playing in the fantastic 'playbarn' full of softplay equipment and ride-on toys, to taking walks down in the forest trails below the cottages, to playing on the zip wire. Then, once the kids are in bed, the adults can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the bunnies in the meadow, or listening to the owls hooting overhead. The location itself is in easy reach of a number of great beaches and attractions. We feel a bit lame going back to the same place all the time, but it is faultless, so why go anywhere else?

Our trip to Cornwall in April was our 6th stay at Bosinver - and we've booked for two weeks next Summer, THAT'S how good it is!

We just love everything about it; the people (Pat, Dave and Helen are lovely, friendly and welcoming - it feels like coming home!), the animals, the different areas around the farm - and the cottages, which are all decorated and equipped to the highest standard, with every little thing you could possibly need in a self catering accomodation. We've stayed in Higher Hill, Cherry, Pentree, Buddleia, Well Close and Laburnum. Our favourites have to be Buddleia and Well Close - all cottages have fantastic views, but these two are just sublime.

The swimming pool is heated to a wonderful temperature - just like a bath, perfect for little ones. For the last two years we've been lucky enough to use it in April, which goes to show just how warm it is!

The frozen meals by 'Each Peach Kitchen' are delicious, and wonderful if you want a night without cooking, but the convenience of being at 'home' and not in a restaurant which as we all know, can make for tired and grumpy children!

I really cannot say enough good things about our holidays at Bosinver. I think it goes to show just how perfect it is when I say we're off to Barbados in August for two weeks and I'd EASILY be just as happy to be returning to Bosinver - I know my little girls would agree!

We'll be coming back as often as possible for as long as Bosinver remains.

Bosinver has been our home away from home for the last 14 summers! The accomodation, facilities and surroudings are top notch, superb and stunning. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff and attention to detail ensures that nothing is left to chance. We have continued to stay as our children grow up illustrating there is something for every age - animals, play barn, playground, zip wire, lake, tennis court, pool - lots of opportunity to meet others but each cottage is secluded enough to hide away for peace and quiet too!

We love Bosinver Farm Cottages! I love it because I know when we arrive I dont have to clean the cottage - everything is always spotless. My husband loves it because of its location - perfect for the north or south coast, and within easy driving distance of the far end of Cornwall. And my daughter (who will be 12 in August) loves it because she always meets other children there and has loads of fun, and she can go out of the cottage in the safe environment to use the play barn or games room. We all enjoy it there and know that for one week of the year we can relax and get away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Pat, Dave and Helen are always very friendly. Would definately recommend it, we have been going to Bosinver for the last five years and have rebooked to go again next Easter.

Room Tip: Great photos on the website of each cottage

We've stayed in Pear, Apple and Hillside. Returning to Bosinver is like returning home. Peaceful, beautiful, idyllic, amazing. Ducks to feed in the morning and an egg to collect for breakfast, Chalky the Goat who all the children love, Pony Rides, gorgeous peaceful walks, wandering down the valley to the lake in the evening to try and spot an otter was wonderful. Squirrels, badgers, deer, it's all in Bosinver. Pat Dave and Helen are so welcoming and helpful you feel like you've never been away even though it could be a year or two since you last saw them. The Play Barn is a welcome retreat on a rainy day, with sofas and a CD player for the adults if they want, excellent toilet facilities, soft play, little bikes for the children to play on. Not to mention the gorgeous views. The children loved the swimming pool and the woodland walks. The cottages are all individual and furnished to an amazing standard, each cottage is set in acres of land far enough away from its neighbour that you never intrude on someone else. Going to sleep listening to the owls calling one another was lovely. Highly highly recommended. A brilliant place even for retired couples to holiday.

We stayed in Rose Cottage for a week in May and had an absolutely wonderful time. Pat & Dave have put so much thought into providing a home from home environment. Everything we could've needed for our little girl (aged 2) was here, from toys in the living room to plastic plates and cutlery in the kitchen and a blackout blind and nightlight in her room.

There is so much to do on-site. The play barn is fab and we all loved the Gruffalo trail and tube slide. I even had a go on the zip wire - such fun!! We all loved feeding the animals and our Daughter was thrilled to be allowed to choose an egg to take back 'home' to eat each morning. She still talks about it now.

The highlight had to be the pony rides though. Seeing our Daughter's face as she rode along on Rupert was priceless. Memories truly are made of this!

We've now booked Rose cottage again for next year and I can't wait.

Accomodation was good, all the facilities you could want, and enough space. Equally not too 'out-of-place' modern so that we were nervous of the kids ruining something. A sprawling area of safe places to play, walk, investigate. Adventure walks, zip wire and tunnel, peaceful views, games room... so many things to do without leaving we are going back this year. highlight for the kids was collecting eggs and feeding animals with Farmer Dave - also pony rides on tuesday. Dave gives so much time every morning to the children staying that I don't know how they fit in running the place. It was surprising just how many families were hidden away on the site, as at no point did you feel over looked or squeezed in with other families. Nice layout and landscaping helped. My first thought was 'pricey' when my wife suggested going, but worth every penny - the extras are worth the additional £100 over some other properties we have stayed in down here. Solar heated swimming pool is lovely too, internet PC available near reception, and wireless signal over a short range if you have your laptop, also a local company can deliver frozen (very tasty) meals at a reasonable price. Can have them pre-ordered and in your freezer, or select from the reception freezer as and when.

Oh, I forgot that one of the barns is converted into a small soft play area and treadmills for adults for those wet days when you need 20mins for the kids to let off steam - most places would have turned this barn into a large 8 person accomodation to make extra cash - but not Bosinver. If you are visiting the area with family, this is your only choice of accomodation, and we've stayed in quite a few.
