“Does what it says on the tin”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

This is a local pub with rooms offering bed and breakfast and they do it very well. It does not make out to be a 5 star boutique hotel. I arrived late on a Friday evening about 10pm but even at this late time they offered to prepare me a "basket meal" which was excellent and much appreciated. I was shown to my room which was of a good size and very clean. It was darts evening and the bar was full of friendly welcoming locals. The beer was well kept.

The following morning the landlord went out of his way to give me an early breakfast which was very good indeed.

Yes you could argue the decor of the rooms is a little dated, yes the pub is on a main road and yes the rooms are above the pub. However it was friendly, clean, helpful and served good food and hence met my requirements perfectly. It represents excellent value for money.

This pub is very unhygienic. We had a meal and had two dogs staring at us. The staff are unfriendly, unhelpful and the landlord and landlady are even worse. Not good. More of a local people's pub which is based in the travelling community. Luckily we neverhad any trouble.

Welcoming pub, good staff and I had a really really yummy, yes I used the word yummy as an adult cornish ice cream sundae. This was next to a great crackling fire and a easily accesible car park. If and when I come back I will be looking to book my stay here!

Room Tip: Bear with the Wifi - it does work but can be confusing I guess for those who do not want to perserve...

Received a very warm welcome. Simon was an excellent host and made us feel at home.
The rooms were comfy and warm and spotlessly clean.
Breakfast provided a good choice. Overall good value for money. Would stay again.

Where do I start, roast had 2 insipid looking roast potatoes that tasted like they had been dipped in lard, cabbage was watery, meat was tough, meal was luke warm. Was just horrible. Dessert choice..... Arctic roll, vienetta or rice pudding, need I say more!!!!!
