“Nice little B&B/ restaurant near to the Eden Project”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We wanted to stay near the Eden Project and highly recommend this B&B. The owners are still renovating it and it will be lovely when it's finished. The garden will be spectacular with a lovely with its summer house and Japanese style garden - with a wilder area at the back by the stream. The owners are applying for a wedding licence and it will be really pretty venue for small summer weddings. There's a bar and restaurant where we ate in the evening and the food was fine - not top standard but nice enough. Well priced prosecco! And breakfast in the conservatory was good. We had room number 7 which is prettily decorated. A few slight niggles in the room which are largely due to the size of the room as the shower room and toilet are separate and crammed into cupboard sized spaces - which are fine and perfectly functional although the pump in the toilet is very noisy - I don't know if that can be adjusted. And there's shaver socket in the shower room but no mirror. They could do with some hooks for towels on the back of the shower room and toilet doors. Overall - a well priced, friendly, nicely decorated B&B with useful bar & restaurant in lovely grounds. Beware of the dog which although lovely can be a little over-friendly!

Room Tip: Room 7 is a twin with a very noisy pump in the loo

Well we stayed at the Waterwheel last month and found the accommodation very nice and the couple running the Inn were extremely helpful and friendly and would always do more for us if we so wished.
.
I find if you treat people how you wish to be treated there is not a problem!

I have mixed feelings about this place, I stayed here with a large groups of friends during April.
The decor is lovely and the rooms are all very clean and well maintained, although a little on the small side. The owners are friendly, and were on hand to recommend good places to visit and eat at.
A slight word of warning, they do have a Dog and Cat which roam free around the B&B which wasn't really made clear when booking, which could cause issues if you have a fear of either, or have allergies. The dog however is lovely and my fiancéé fell in love with him during our stay.
The breakfast is amazing, and the portions are good, which sets you up well for your day.
it is a bit of a shame that this place has its' downsides,
The TV's really struggle to get a reliable picture, so are very blocky and jumpy if you are trying to watch anything.
The Wifi is very unreliable and has weak signal in the upstairs bedrooms and breakfast area.
The front car park area looks like a bit of a building site, with cement mixers, and biffa bins lined up, which does detract from an otherwise beautiful building and gardens.

However, I'm confident that once the works are completed this will be a lovely place.

Room Tip: Rooms do have some wifi signal but very weak. signal might be better on rooms closer to the main lob...

I am glad that you enjoyed several aspects of your stay with us but obviously disappointed that you found some aspects of your stay less enjoyable. We hope we have resolved the Wifi issue by putting an extender on the landing and as we have super fast broadband this should mean that our guests should enjoy a good service. We are buying an additional extender for the conservatory for people wanting internet access at breakfast.
Disruption of the TV signal is the price we pay for living in this beautiful steep sided river valley and a specialist company has determined that the only way to resolve this would be for radio signals to do right angles. Unfortunately we are unable to accomplish this.
We have a huge car park and allow a friend to use a small part of the top car park to store his truck and work gear. We will ask him to tidy his section up.
Kernow and Bailey feature prominently on our website and this is their home. We are also advertised as dog friendly. In addition, they seem to be the star members of staff in virtually every review; so much so that we think we might be becoming redundant! I am therefore surprised that you were not aware of their presence but it was lovely that your girlfriend also fell in love with Kernow despite her previous issue with dogs.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Stayed here for 3 nights for my husband 60th birthday treat. I can honestly say I would definitely recommend The Water Wheel Inn clean, lovely decor and very welcoming owners Francesca & Mark. Breakfast was in the conservatory and plenty of it which set you up for the day. We had a fantastic break thank you both.

I went to Cornwall for a week as I had to go to a wedding nearby. The hotel was lovely, beautiful location. The food was excellent with a range of dishes to suit everybody. Would definitely stay there again.

As it was my partner's 60th birthday I decided to treat her to 4 days in Cornwall. We decided to stay at the waterwheel inn. I can honestly say its the best decision we've ever made! The owners Mark and Francesca are very welcoming and offer a very relaxed atmosphere in this
country inn. We were allocated room 6 which is very tastefully decorated and comfortable.
The bar, restaurant and conservatory are all very pleasant and relaxing. The breakfast each morning was very tasty and a good variety was on offer. As we were out and about each day we only had 1 evening meal there on Tina's birthday and the food was superb. Compliments to the resident chef! The gardens are well laid out and if you wish to visit the little chapel and well the resident 4 legged tourguide (Kernow the black labrador) will show you the way and wait until you wish to return. We have decided to return same time next year and would have no hesitation in recommending the waterwheel to anyone thinking of staying in this area.
Many thanks to Francesca and Mark. See you next year.

Having returned yesterday from a great four day break to St Austell, I would like to thank our hosts for a wonderful stay at their beautiful Inn.
The bedroom (2) is indeed beautifully kept, overlooking the garden and patio. Tranquil!
Breakfast is more than enough to set you up for the day. Delicious, tasty, good variety and served in the conservatory. Treat..!
The Waterwheel Inn truly is a Treasure!

Thank you very much from Nasreen and Maryam.
