“Good place for traditional Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

You can't get much more traditional than this country pub, a rabbit warren of rooms, wooden beams etc. The food is traditional too - nothing especially innovative: roasts or fish, plain vegetables, crumbles and bread and butter pud. Butr all excellent home-cooked quality. Very friendly service, we (a family and a couple) were alone in the basement room but they kept popping odwn to see if we were ok. Great atmosphere.

“Good for Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Very good roast beef and pork, not overcooked and moist - huge plate of traditional veg.

This is not a gastropub, more an old fashioned inn with solid food, desserts reflecting this too, crumbles etc.

Atmosphere is snug, a little chaotic and the place could do with a spruce up - maybe forthcoming with it's young pub magnate owner, the Baroness of St Agnes who seems intent on owning the Monopoly board of Inns in the area. Hey, Anoushka, go for the Plume at Perranwell - it needs a jolt.

“Unremarkable food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Pretty good for real ale but food was unremarkable (e.g. unimaginative main courses - oven chips all round - NOT proper chips!). Friendly banter at the local's end of the bar (none of them are eating, of course). But, for the rest of us, its all a bit predictably mediocre. I would categorise this place as is a beer and banter establishment. My advice: Enjoy a few drinks and stick to crisps. 2.5 stars.

“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012 via mobile

We were recently staying at the Rose in Vale Hotel & visited here on 3 consecutive nights. Great food & lovely atmosphere. Such a shame it's too far to travel for a visit . Do not miss this great pub.

“Local pub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I came to the Miners Arms for a meal with my partner whilst we were staying in Mithian. There is so much character to the place and the food was great! I was shocked how low the price of our bills was (we paid under £25 for two drinks, a starter, two mains and one desert). The portions are huge and the malteser cheesecake is a must!! So delicious!! We arrived at 5pm so we had an hours wait until they started serving food (6pm). We felt slightly uncomfortable at first as it was obvious we weren't "locals". However one of the "locals" dogs came to greet us and this broke the ice slightly. As the pub got busier we felt totally at ease. I would advise getting there about 7pm and booking a table as its clearly very popular.

Overall a great pub with good food and fantastic value for money!
