Where to start..
We went to the Taphouse as it was recommended to us by the LemonTree Cafe in Truro, and it was one of the best recommendations I've had.
It was my birthday and we traveled from Newquay by minibus to St Agnes and even though it was a gamble (and expensive return taxi) it paid off BIG TIME!
The Taphouse has to be one of the most lovely, inviting and charming restaurants I've been too. You'd expect from the quality of the food that its some type of expensive restaurant or hotel but it was so far removed.
The staff we're absolutely brilliant, (special Hi to Sophie) and made us all feel so welcome. Leaving us do what we wanted when we wanted but they were always on hand to answer any questions or make recommendations.
The food well, it was absolutely incredible. I'm not a massive fish or red meat fan so thought I might struggle but the chef was more than happy to do me a starter sized version of the Fishcakes which we're divine and a larger portion of the breads and Olives for my friends. I had cold king prawns with the fish cakes and I can say hand on heart say I have never eaten anything so beautiful. I think the fact they were caught within 24/48 hours helped but proved their dedication to providing only the best.
The quality of the food and wine across all our meals was exceptional, we had the Three Fishes, Ribs, Tappy Burger and Fish Pplatter; all of which we're delicious.
I can't say enough about the Taphouse but what I can say is if you want a gorgeous, fresh, tasty and non-expensive meal with a beautiful surrounding this is the place to be.
Thank you everyone at the Taphouse for making my birthday was lovely :) 5*
