We had an awful stay here, the cottage was disgusting very dirty. When mentioned to the receptionist she was very defensive and no help at all. The daytime entertainment for the kids was poor and the swimming pool was very small. The evening entertainment was better and Paul and chantell were amazing and lovely and worked hard. Unfortunately ebony was not so good. She had an awful attitude and did not try to hide it. This was most evident while calling the bingo and getting it wrong lots and snapping at paul when he tried to get her back on track..terrible. Unfortunately we won't be coming back again and I would advise everyone else to give it a swerve.

Hello Mozza

I am very sorry that the accommodation provided during your recent stay with us did not meet your expectations. This is a very popular holiday park and the chalets are in constant use. We have an on-going programme of refurbishment where all units are constantly monitored to ensure that we maintain the standards expected by our clients.

Nevertheless, I feel we should look into the circumstances of your holiday and see what we can do to help. To that end I will be contacting you through the Tripadvisor messaging service to discover the full details of your booking.

No 3 Perran View , although tucked away at the back of the main entertainment centre was pleasant and more than adequate for our stay. The accommodation overall was clean and in good condition considering it was the last week of the season. The pool is small and indoors, a little dark and very humid when sitting dry on poolside. The staff on site were all very polite and attended to any query quickly and efficiently. Would go back again.

We booked a 4 night stay online then before going took up the offer of staying for Halloween night for an extra £40 - what a mistake! We got there and were given keys to our 'Silver' Cottage. Previous reviews were spot on when they said it was grimy and outdated. Our cottage was grimy and dirty and the first thing I had to do was get out my cleaning things and clean the bathroom as best I could. This didn't fix the broken heater and the extractor fan was thick with dirt that even I didn't want to touch! The sheet on the double bed had holes in and pillow was mouldy, the whole place stunk of damp and the mattresses were uncomfortable with springs poking in your back at night. We knocked on my son's cottage 2 doors away and his was a totally different story even though we had paid exactly the same. I went down to reception to tell them and asked why 2 silver cottages were so different with ours being damp, tired furniture, dirty, mouldy pillows and was told by reception that this was because the cottages were privately owned and were all different standards depending on the owners. The site was full and they asked what we wanted them to do???? Not very helpful!!. They sent us away with a new pillow and a can of air freshener to get rid of the smell, we declined another sheet as we had just made the bed but they did offer this. Thought their response was unhelpful and a can of air freshener didn't solve the problems. As we had brought a total of 7 children with us, we thought we'd better try and make the most of it. The daytime entertainment was dire, son tried to book his children on to the water balls the day before as requested and was told no as full. Little point in advertising this as kids were unable to do this and we ended up taking them out for the day and paid to go to Water World in Newquay instead (fun at last!!). Stripeys did their best to entertain on the night time and must give credit to Chantal who was brilliant with the kids, just wish the same could have been said for Ebony who I think is in the wrong job. She may be young but you have to like children to do her job and I think this opinion was reflected in the lack of applause she got on haloween night when Paul asked people to cheer for Ebony, then Chantal who had a huge cheer and Paul who also got a huge cheer. We were also told by a member of staff that complaints had been made by other families about her. Any way to round off the holiday, we decided to eat at Cheffies on Halloween night. After waiting with 2 other families for 15 minutes, Chef eventually came out holding 2 plates of food at about 6.30pm and abruptly said 'I'm not serving any more food for at least ½ hour, I'm on my own' and started to walk away. The man in front of us asked if he could take the order and he would come back later and he refused. As no guarantee of food at Cheffies, we took a drive into Perranporth and grabbed some fish and chips. We stayed in cottage 50 if this helps and would recommend people not to stay there. We have stayed in many places including Haven, Butlins, and some had stayed this year at John Fowlers in Widemouth Bay, which they said was a totally different and much more enjoyable experience so a real shame about Perran View. We were totally disappointed and did what we did to make the most of it including letting reception know at the beginning, although this didn't prove satisfactory.

Room Tip: Don't go in Cottage 50 although I gave it a good clean so should be a bit better now! Cottage 4...

It never ceases to amaze me when I am reading these reviews that there can be such a diversity of opinion on the same subject. One review is 4 or 5 star the next is just one or two – obviously we need to find out why.

I cannot deny that occasionally we let a customer down and it is imperative that we make a full investigation into what went wrong for the benefit of future guests.

I shall be contacting you shortly and I feel sure that the matter will be settled to everyone’s satisfaction.

We booked a three night stay via The Sun Holiday vouchers. Usually we'd stay in a caravan park but due to late booking and our usual sites being booked up, we decided to try John Fowler Perran View. What a mistake.

Despite paying to upgrade from budget or bronze accommodation to silver, we were sorely disappointed with the chalet. The park itself is grim and in desperate need of a paint and upgrade. Our chalet - we were told it was a privately owned one - was sparse, dirty, un loved and badly maintained.

Starting downstairs, the sitting room area was adequate, warm and fairly comfortable. The kitchen was very dated and the curtains were having off the rail. Grubby surfaces and crockery all needed washing before use. There were some very old and grubby dining chairs in the kitchen too.

Upstairs and really the worst part of the chalet. The master bedroom bed was the most uncomfortable we have ever slept on. The mattress was stained and the duvet holey and bobbled. Luckily we bought our own bedlinen but halfway through the night had to use the mattresses to try and add a little extra padding to the bed. The same was true of the smaller single bed.
Dirty kitchen roll was left in the light fitting - possibly from a cleaner? Flies were also in the room.

The bathroom was beyond description, dirty, tired and frankly a health and safety nightmare.

We left as soon as possible the next day. Gavin, the General Manager, was very helpful trying to offer us alternative accomodation however appeared to have no authorisation to offer anything else. He stated 99% of people are chuffed to bits to be there. I find that very hard to believe.

I will be contacting JohnFowler holidays direct to enquire after a refund of our upgrade.

Room Tip: Do not be tempted to book this park.

Gavin is quite correct when he says that 99% of people enjoy their stay at this park - in fact this year we have already welcomed over 1800 families with just 9 poor reviews.

We have an on-going programme of refurbishment where all units are constantly monitored to ensure that we maintain the standards expected by our clients.

Visited last year and had a good holiday, just been again and had a great time. The staff were all really friendly and always happy to help. The accommodation was spacious and clean and perfect for a nice week away. The entertainment was really good and all 3 stripeys were brilliant. It's only 15 minute drive to Newquay and £8 in a taxi to Perranporth where there are some nice bars. I would definitely recommend this site for a great value budget holiday and will be visiting again next year. Well done.
