“Restraunt review”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We have eaten at this hotel on numerous occassions, The food is of extremely high standard, especiall the steak. The hoitel only use high qaulity suppliers which reflects in the end product.

We had our wedding reception there, the driver forgot to take the cake out of the boot and drove away with it. The staff found out and without us knowing went out and purchase a wedding cake as a surprise for us. I was totally overwhelmed at the customer centred focus these people go to to ensure the customer experiences high quality and professional service.

Highly reccomended.

Lovely weekend spent here. Staff are very attentive and food is brilliant. Evening meal and breakfast excellent. Rooms very comfortable and a nice pool, spa and sauna with treatments available if required. I would say vintage elegance. Handy for surrounding resorts. Good price for dinner, bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: I would request a room near the pool so you can go back in your robe rather than changing in the poo...

We visited the Penventon for a friends wedding and had a wonderful time. The staff were all really friendly and very willing to please. The hotel itself could do with a spruce up but everything worked as it should have. The rooms need a tart up too but if the hotel was modernised it would lose some of its charm Food was also excellent. It really only loses 1 star because it needs a tidy up. We'd definitely stay again.

When we first arrived at The Penventon Park Hotel,on a very busy New Years Day, lunch service in full flow and with a request for help for our possible wedding venue, we were greeted by Nigel,(the Hotels charming Reception Manager) with an exceptional, warm welcome, was taken on a tour of the hotel and its excellent bedrooms, was invited to a glass of wine and given more time and attention than I am sure they could really spare. (This feeling remained for the entire duration of our dealings with anyone at the hotel), though they were always very busy during our wedding weekend and the weeks leading up to it, we felt as though we were the only people in the Hotel! In planning a wedding from Oxford, we were tentative about the stress of being so far away but were soon encouraged by Louise,(the Hotels remarkable wedding coordinator) not to worry, she would help us every step of the way. It was evident we had stumbled across something special! She did SO much more than this. Nothing was too much trouble, for Louise, Nigel or anyone.
We were invited to a complimentary nights stay at he Hotel, with DB&B and treated to the
Honeymoon suite. The first of so many delightful, thoughtful and memory making touches by all of the staff, without exception. Our dining experiences, from our first visit, through our Wedding Breakfast, family dinners and breakfasts from 5 to 25 people and beyond, were, without hesitation, simply sublime. Great care was taken over every plate and surpassed our hopes. An amazing culinary experience by an exceptional Chef.(Thank you Joe) The food itself was delightfully served by a constantly obliging team of superb waiting staff. The perfect balance of humour, attentiveness and forethought make food at the Penventon an absolute delight!
Paul (the Hotels charismatic General Manager) ran through our hopes for our wedding day, spending a whole evening in busy scribbling and endless amazing suggestions to make our day.....ours.
Suffice to say, our wedding day has now come and gone (we married there on 29th March,2013) but the magic that was created at the hotel by every one of its warm, professional and dedicated staff, from bar to bedrooms, Spa to superb waiting staff, will be recalled with tremendous gratitude, with the fondest of memories that touched each one of our guests, friends and family, young and old, and as a unexpected finishing touch on our 'Happily Ever After' forever. Somehow, 'Thank you' seems such an inadequate word.
We are looking forward to many anniversary's to come at The Penventon park.If you are looking for a venue, elegant and sophisticated, warm and entirely welcoming, that will help you create the fondest of memories, DO NOT HESITATE!

My partner and i stayed on Easter Sunday at a spring special price of £99 for 2,dinner,bed and breakfast. What excellent value for money. We had a free upgrade to a garden room, which was spacious. We used the health spa area this visit with pool, spa and 2 different saunas plus a gym.If you collect a bath robe before you use these facilities you can go from your room, save changing down there.
Our evening meal was splendid! Special 4 courses for easter, soup to start,Roast beef and all the trimmings followed by a chiefs special desert to die for.To end the meal with tea/coffee and fudge.Very impressive!
The staff here are a real credit to the hotel. All very helpful and friendly especially the young members of staff in the restaurant.
Well worth a stay here,i will definatly be returning!

arrived at this hotel after an 8 hour drive, at 11am knowing we could not check in until 1pm, a happy smiley receptionist made us very welcome, and told us room was ready, we were very impressed in Garden Room 276 was very clean, with everything you need! unpacked and went for a drink, staff could not do enough for you even to putting tomato ketchup on your plate!!! we were guests at a wedding the next day, everything was perfect, ceremony, food, drink, service could not complain about this hotel at all, would reccomend to anyone.

Room Tip: garden rooms are lovely

This hotel is good, a converted stately home, loverly decor. Rooms are fine too. BUT the staff can't think for themselves! They're robots, you have to tell them exactly what you want or nothing happens food is good IF you grab a waiter and get your order in.
