“So much joy in everything you consume”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

All adjectives are overused in trip advisor. No superlative words can adequately describe Talland Bay Hotel! I therefore offer a different insight. It is truly remarkable that all the staff work as a team to create the ultimate satisfaction for each individual guest. Every moment of time spent at Talland Bay Hotel is a joy to behold, a joy to witness the enthusiasm and pride that each of the staff has in knowing they are providing the very highest level of customer care. What has been achieved at Talland and delivered consistently day in day out does not happen by accident! To ensure such satisfaction requires an understanding of what quality is for each element of a customers’ need. Each need must have been dissected and reconstructed to ensure that every element is as perfect as it can be. What each guest encounters, what you see, touch or consume has Quality and Attention To Detail in abundance.

Staff were very friendly, rooms clean if a little small, dog mat, dog towel and biscuits provided. Quite a few rooms also have access to the gardens even our 1st floor room. Pets are welcome everywhere except the dining room and can join you for breakfast in the conservatory. Dinner was very well cooked but we both thought some portions were small with limited carbohydrates and my potato was served stone cold. Disappointed that after dinner coffee was not included in the DBB price. We still felt a little hungry after dinner and recommend making most of the bread. Our one night stay cost £280 (including £10 for the dog). You are unlikely to go elsewhere for your evening meal as there is nowhere else very close to eat (beach cafe closed at night) so most will probably stay for the evening meal. Good to see no surcharges on the menu. Breakfast was very good too, wonderful scrambled eggs and lovely sea views. Interesting gardens with some great ornaments. Our dogs loved our stay but if not for a gift it is a little too pricey for us to go again especially as it is only 25 miles away.

Although my profile does not show it, I have travelled over 60 different countries at both low end and high end. By far, after all the American Lodges, High end London Hotels, lush bush campgrounds or south pacific island retreats, this is my number one.

- Falling asleep on deck chairs on empty lawn over looking the ocean to be woken by the soft ringing of church bells in the Abbey on the Hill and the distant whinnying of horses on the fields.

- Your lush princess and the pea bed is turned down at night before you turn in laying a robe and your pj's on the bed for you.

- Breakfast as you like it, on demand, any way you want.

- Cocktails in the garden.

- Coastal walks to Polperro to THE BEST SEAFOOD RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER HAD. As a glutton for seafood, including Coffin Bay Oysters, Maine Lobster and Red Sea Caviar - these local muscles and crab were prepared in a manner that was utterly to die for.

- Being chosen as the fertility maiden by the local Morrison dancers.

- Returning the hotel to lie in the bath, rest in my lush bed and wake to do it all again.

Whenever I feel sad, or tired or down, I take my mind back to resting on that deck chair.

-

Just returned from a very enjoyable five nights at this lovely hotel. We stayed in room 1 which was lovely with a beautiful view across the front garden and out to sea. We ate most nights at the hotel, one night in the restaurant and the rest in the conservatory and the food was exceptional every night. The staff are polite and attentive without being pushy and nothing is too much trouble. The owners have worked hard to create a quirky yet peaceful escape by the sea and we hope to return very soon.

We stayed at the Talland Bay on DBB terms for two nights at the end of August. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and quickly shown to our room which was very well equipped and tastefully furnished. We booked a sea view suite and there was plenty of room for us and our dog - she was also given a warm welcome with treats etc. Dinner each night was to a very high standard and served with just the right amount of friendliness and efficiency. Breakfast was equally good.

The gardens are very relaxing with plenty of seating and secluded areas to unwind. The hotel sits on a hill with excellent views and a short walk down to the beach.

We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view rooms and a suite if you have a dog. They have direct access onto the gardens.

Just spent a wonderful weekend here and can't wait to go back. The whole experience was truly fantastic and I can't praise this hotel enough. The food was first class and the room clean, spacious and very well designed. And the service we received would do credit to many far more expensive establishments. I'd happily recommendit to my family (and already have)!

As a birthday surprise my wife booked dinner bed & breakfast at Talland Bay Hotel. What can I say ? As it was my birthday the hotel not only had a card for me - but a fantastic room with sea view - thank you - kind & considerate. Dinner was top quality & so was breakfast. Lovely attentive staff & hard working owners make this a special place. The gardens are amazing & no expense has been spared in making them interesting & quirky. The view is outstanding. Thank you Talland Bay Hotel & your staff a truly memorable night - only wish it was a longer stay.
