Found this beautiful B&B on TA when looking for somewhere near the Eden Project. I had initially considered my purse strings and looked at St Austell Premier Inn, but in all honesty, by the time I had factored in a couple of breakfasts, it did not cost much more to stay at Penarwyn. And it was worth every penny.
The house and grounds are beautiful, it is obvious that Mike and Jan have put their all into making this a top notch property. There is a lovely airy lounge and snooker room open for guests to use. We stayed in the 'little' room, Treffry, although it was far from little! Super comfy kingsize bed, with lovely soft linens...beautiful period furniture....modern comforts with a flat screen tv, silent fridge with filtered water and fresh milk, ample tea and coffee. The ensuite bathroom was terrific, with a heart shaped bath! We had a great choice for breakfast, with the full english being cooked to order.
Mike and Jan are genuinely friendly, welcoming hosts...nothing too much trouble and they were keen to ensure we had a comfortable stay, not only in their home but in the area. Mike suggested a couple of great places to eat, directions of how to get to places and where to park - really, really thoughtful. Our main destination was the Eden Project, but we also visited nearby Lanhydrock House and went into Fowey.
I would not hesitate to recommend Penarwyn, and hope we will be back someday.
All of the rooms are to the same standard, there are detailed descriptions of them all on the websit...
