“This place is magical”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Low beams, great view, great beer food and a warm welcome make this place a must visit for any discerning visitor to 'God's own county'. The only complaint that I have is that there is too much talk of Chelsea FC. A haven in summer and cozy in winter...

“A very special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

We visited this wonderful pub last night and as on previous visits we received a very warm welcome. We have visited on numerous occasions over the last few years and whether we eat or just call in for a drink the welcome received and the quality of the food served is excellent; the position, directly on the beach is amazing. Highly recommended!

“Unfriendly and hostile atmosphere with mediocre food in a fabulous location.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Went here for lunch here for the first time in a number of years - We had happy memories of this hostelery, but sad to find that the atmosphere, welcome and staff attitude has hit the skids. As polite walkers, we had taken off our muddy boots, as requested on the sign on the door. There is nowhere to put them, but asking staff where to put them received a blank and hostile response. Walkers don't come here - you won't be welcome! Attitude is negative and unwelcoming. With the exception of the young lady collecting plates, this place is as friendly as a road accident. Food is OK but if you are not arriving in a spotless 4 x 4 to walk 100 yards to eat, my advice is book a table at Sam's or walk on to Par - the Ship Inn is friendly and welcoming and they don't mind your boots!!

“Ticked all the "Cornish" boxes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

We had a very clear view as to what we were looking for in a Cornish pub dining experience.

A Cornish white painted building.
Location on an estuary, creek or sea. This one is on the beach!
Steak pies and fish pies.
Authentic.
Open fire.
Friendly staff.
Parking.
Dogs welcome

All our requirements were comprehensively met and not only would we return but we would highly recommend.

“Be sure to book for Sunday lunch!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Fabulous location , excellent food. We had booked a table for 8 on Sunday - for 12.30pm - when we sat down - we were told they only had 6 beef left! Testimony to how good the food is! 6 of us snaffled the beef and 2 of us had Paninis, chips and soup. All food was really tasty, hot and a great selection and quantity of veg. Would def come again
