“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

Have just returned from a wonderful two day break. It was a surprise birthday treat arranged by my husband and I couldn't have wished for a nicer surprise!
The hotel was fautless, extremely clean with fantastic food served and great attention to detail that shows thoughout the whole hotel.
All the staff were so friendly and helpful, you felt 'at home' straight away and so did our dog who received her very own welcome bag and bed
The hotel has an amazing position on the cliff top with breathtaking views and its own beach.
There isn't a single element of our stay that I would fault or change, we loved it and will definately be going back

Just had a trip to this hotel, stunning location, beautifully designed & decorated building, friendly, helpful, accomodating staff, gorgeous room with sea view, amazingly comfy bed, immaculately clean, delicious meals (dinner & breakfast) great menu, locally sourced, SO welcoming to our two dogs - welcome bags for them in the room with blanket beds, food bowls & spare poo bags - such a thoughtful & welcoming touch :-)
All in all couldn't have wished for a betrer experience. Can't wait to go back & have purchased a stay for my Mum & Dad for their Christmas present! Well done Polurrian Bay Team & a big thank you!xx

Just returned from a wonderful weekend stay with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. Hotel is situated in spectacular location allowing us to make the most of breathtaking coastal walks (also has it's own private beach). Loved everything about the hotel. Rooms showed great attention to detail - absolutely the most comfortable bed I've slept in for a long time (plus wonderful sea view). Food absolutely delicious. And most importantly, the waiting and reception staff were so efficient, informal and friendly - adding massively to the overall experience. Will definitely visit again.

We stayed start of November on really good Tripadvisor deal. Arrived on wet and windy day but the setting is superb in any weather! Followed sat nav, and it took us down an awful road but hotel gave us the good route out.
When we arrived we were given a tour of the ground floor, shown all the facilities, very personal! There is a huge conservatory overlooking the sea with huge comfy sofas, and also a book lined snug, a games room with computers, pool tables games etc, free wifi throughout. Lovely large longe with fireplace and sofas to sit and enjoy the views and no bar, staff come to you for drinks order or to serve tea and coffee. We had a sea view room with huge windows and window seats, gorgeous!Spotlessly clean with an enormous, comfy bed and the most luxurious pillows. Elemis toiletries were plentiful and much enjoyed. Thank you. Loads of massive white towels and huge robes. Tea, coffee and chocolate.
We really enjoyed the breakfasts which were included. Yoghurt, fruit, pastries, cereals and selection of juice. Then a waiter service for hot selection, full cornish, eggs, cooked your choice, bacon sausage beans tomato mushroom and black pudding. Or, porridge, scrambled egg and smoked salmon, bolied egg and soildiers, Ican't remember all the rest but it should satisfy even the most picky traveller? Dinner was also included in our deal, and that was also 3 courses there was a selection of starters and also every night a special, the same with the next 2 courses. My Husband and I both had the sirloin, I on the first night, he had the special, mackeral, but when he tasted my sirloin, he had to have it on the second night! The dinners were absolutely delicious and so much better than we expected for a set menu. We kept saying to each other that we couldn't believe the price we had paid and we couldn't understand why the Hotel was not full! We will most certainly return.

Room Tip: Upgrade to sea view, we had 110 it was fantastic!!!

Came here a second time with 2 kids (5 and 9) so a totally different perspective. The staff were just lovely - informal, friendly but efficient. We stayed on a really windy night and they upgraded us to a family suite that was slightly less noisy - really thoughtful and they apologised to us! It was my birthday and a card was waiting in our room - it's the little things that make the difference!

Kids facilities were very good and with a homely touch. The mouse hunt was a favourite and considering the weather was so bad we couldn't venture out, the kids were kept amused and have asked to go back! And if there is enough demand, on a Sunday if you choose they will pick the kids up from the room and take them to breakfast so adults can have a lie in!! - we didn't do this but the idea is great.

The food was better than last time we visited and breakfast was plentiful (a soft poached egg would have been nice though).

If I was just a couple I may not want to visit during school holidays but as a 'classy' hotel with children, just lovely. Will definitely be returning

Room Tip: Room 105 is a very spacious family suite.

No qualms with the room - clean and comfy beds. Reception friendly and chatty, partner had a massage which she was very impressed with. The views are stunning and the front lounge is really quite special (though strangely lacking in atmosphere - a bit baffling why they choose not to play some mellow tone music) it's a very family orientated set up and we didn't have too many minutes without the yell, cry or running of a child around us which wasn't ideal but never an issue. The real down side was the food which we expected to be fine dining but it really wasn't, over 2 nights we had some really poor food - in particular a sirloin steak that was no more than 5oz, stale toast with duck parfait, completely overdone rosti with fish, and in general pretty uninspiring food aside from the above. Breakfast was also v poor on 1 of the 2 days (cold beans, rubberised bacon, fruit that did not seem fresh at all, wrong orders hard eggs. 2nd morning was much better admittedly. Service was hit and miss, some very friendly staff, some with rather forced smiles) Drinks and snacks were v pricey ( £7.50 for a tea cake and a coffee!!) We booked through travelzoo so don't feel too put out by the experience but knowing what else there is in cornwall we would not stay again, ideal if you have dogs or kids as the place is set up for this but if you're looking for a quiet weekend and some quality food - I'd look elsewhere.
