“Family Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We visited with baby, dog and extended family for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of our holiday accommodation.
The pub itself is full of character and the staff were friendly and approachable. The public car park is within easy walking distance and is free of charge and situated on the waterfront - very pretty.
We were seated in the conservatory/restaurant area at the rear of the pub and consequently were not allowed to take the dog in with us but we could have taken him with us if we had booked a table in the bar.
A high chair was provided for the baby and the food was good - a choice of roast chicken, pork or beef and the vegetarian option was tasty although unusual (marrow stuffed with sag aloo). The vegetables accompanying the meat were varied - roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, red cabbage, turnip, parsnips as well as Yorkshire puddings. It was just like having an old fashioned Sunday lunch at home - plain but tasty.
Unfortunately the pub was short staffed on the day of our visit so service was not quite as efficient as I am sure it normally is but everyone was very friendly and we will certainly go again next time we are in the area.

We have stayed on a number of occasions. Without fail , the bar is full of fun and the beer excellent. The rooms are clean , tidy and warm with plenty of tea , coffee and water. Breakfast was cooked to order and most enjoyable. We ate in the restaurant on 2 evenings , both nights I can only describe my meal as excellent. Bearing in mind my choices varied from lobster to pate to start and mussels to steak for a main course , that is not a bad effort!! We tried 3 different wines over the 2 evenings and all were very good as well as perfectly chilled. It is hard to see how any of the staff could have been more helpful , or fun! All in all a very enjoyable experience, the village is beautiful and The Ship tops it off, well worth a visit!

We had not visted Lerryn for many years and were so pleased to be able to go back recently and stay at the Ship Inn. We received a warm welcome from the owners, the room was clean and comfortable and we ate the best mussels and chips we have ever tasted. A delightful place to have a short break in a charming Cornish village.

My wife and I stayed three nights at this comfortable and clean inn and had six cooked breakfasts and six dinners between us. We would recommend this inn and restaurant for its friendly and competent service. The menu is varied and sometimes inventive. This is a community pub with local clientele and congenial staff.

Nice friendly pub/b&b. Couldn't complain, nice friendly staff, clean tidy rooms, decent breakfast, Just what I need for a fishing trip.
Some people may call the pub but personally its absolutely brilliant.
VERY FRIENDLY, close to the harbour and reasonably priced.
Can't fault the pub, will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: I was in room 5 but for a nice double room with shower rooms 4 or 5. Cornish Rattler Cider on Tap...

Lerryn is a beautiful village, lovely place to visit, and we hoped to pop into the pub for an evening meal. Standards of cleanliness were not what I'm used to, large labrador dogs lounging around the dining tables etc. Menu was poor, and attitude of staff not welcoming. We didn't stay, and having got home to read the reviews here I'm glad we didn't. Pubs are in trouble up and down the UK, and they need to do better than this in 2012. Not recommended on the basis of today's trip.

This inn is in a great location but it could sharpen up on the food front - serving supermarket sliced bread is really not acceptable these days. I had many enjoyable meals during a recent trip to Cornwall, but this was the low point. The pub generally has a 'tired' feel and without its location would not be worth a visit. Cannot comment on the rooms as I was staying elsewhere on a lovely farm near Lostwithiel.
