“Loved the setting the views, the ambience and the food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2007

My husband and I wanted to have a weekend away from it all with good food, good surroundings and peace and quiet. Trevalsa, ticked all the boxes, and met our expectations on all count. Although the room we had was small, it was the only room left, it was well furnished and very comfortable. The hotel has had a great deal of love and thought given to the decoration and artistic flair in how the rooms are set.

The food and service were excellent, the dishes were well thought out prepared and cooked, and the menus although short, innovative and well executed.

Breakfast was excellent too, and the dishes were freshly prepared to order. The staff were very friendly and helpful and enjoyed serving you, something that is not always apparent in other hotels.

We will be visiting again, but will try to ensure that we book in advance in time to book a larger room or suite, as having viewed some of the larger rooms before we left having one of these would definatley, have made an extremely enjoyable and memorable visit, a magical visit.

  • Liked — The view from mthe bedroom, the cleaniliness and the comfort
  • Disliked — The room was smaller than we would have preferrred

The hotel has extremely friendly staff and a great location. The room we had was very small but clean and with fantastic views. Yes, the dinner menu is limited but the quality is excellent, as is the breakfast (fresh ingredients, porridge, full english...). We would stop here again but would request a larger room. I great location for exploring Cornwall.

This hotel has a lovely setting and service in the dining room is good but in other respects the standards are not up to the prices they are charging. Our room was relatively small with only one chair. There was no proper shower- only a bath with a mixer. They aspire to be a country house hotel but there were none of the nice touches that we have come across elsewhere. The food was nothing special and dinner was overpriced at £32. The dinner menu was less extensive than that on the hotel's website with only three or four options for each course. There is an additional 10% service charge, not only on the dinner price but also on all drinks. There was nothing terribly wrong with the hotel but we felt it was poor value for money compared with others we have stayed in recently.

What a great hotel, great location and lovely rooms. We did not eat dinner at the hotel was were too busy doing the things tourists do. Breakfast was lovely, cooked to order and very tasty. The owners are very friendly and always ahve time to chat. The room is very well decoarted.

The garden and summer house is so nice and while its a little trek to the beach it really is worth it.

One morning my girlfriend wanted hot water and lemon to drink at breakfast, the waiter then asked if she would like some fresh mint that he could pick from the garden to go with her drink. It is little things like that which make a diffrence.

Great hotel to relax and unwind

Looking at the other comments on the site, I cannot believe that people enjoyed staying here. It was a German Fawlty Towers. Amazing location but everything inside was far from amazing. My boyfriend and I enjoy staying at boutique hotels and this was anything but.

Staff conversed in German in front of us which was quite rude.

Bedroom was tiny and very dated - MFI must have done well 30 years ago. The bathroon was even worse.

We had booked ourselves in for dinner on the first night but quickly changed our minds when seeing we had the choice of one starter, two main courses and one dessert (all which needed to be pre-booked) - very dated menu and very over priced.

Breakfast was very old fashioned - tinned grapefruit and tinned prunes. Nothing special at all really.

All in all, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone as it's really over priced and nothing at all special.

After a lovely stay in Padstow we moved on to this hotel with high hopes. Sadly this hotel failed to meet our expectations. The rooms (or at least our room) was extremely dated and would be what you would expect in an old fashioned bed and breakfast, rather than a modern ‘boutique’ hotel (which this is not!). As such this hotel is very overpriced for the quality of accommodation delivered.

Also, the restaurant was sparsely occupied in the evenings, and it’s not really surprising given the limited choice of offerings on the menu (the one starter of tomato soup was not that appealing!). Again very overpriced, and if dinner was the same quality as breakfast I very much doubt you’d see value for your money.

The view of the sea is very nice, but if you are to stay here I’d advise you enjoy the view from outside, rather than inside the hotel.

Booked this hotel last minute and it was lovely. Superclean room and I have never met such friendly and helpful staff. Contempory design.
Great views over the bay and a very pretty beach down some very step steeps! Would go back without hesitation
