“Great fish and chips”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013 via mobile

Dining is as much about ambience and setting as it is about food, and this shop has everything for the perfect fish and chips.

On a lovely day there are few places as nice as Mevagissey to sit on a bench and eat fish and chips al fresco. This is a busy and picturesque fishing port and tucking into some fresh battered cod at the harbour side here invokes the essence of Cornwall.

On less clement days, a bijou seating area above the chipshop provides a homely and down-to-earth dining experience where you can eat your food from the wrapper at a table with views over the harbour.

We have bought fish and chips here many times over the past few years and we will continue to over the years to come. So many poshed-up fish and chip places have appeared around Cornwall, and in my experience none of them can compare to this place. The Fishermans Chippy does the simple things well and without pretention, and what more could you ever want from a chipshop?

“Big fish, nice chips..but a little too oily for me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Well my title says it all really. A good seaside chippy. Was busy when we visited so had to wait for our fish to be cooked which was fine with us. Fish was massive. Only downside was the fish went from fryer to tray without having drained properly first so my chips sat in a pool of oil, and the batter was very oily too so couldnt face eating it. Paid £13 for 2 fish n chips and mushy peas which seemed a bit steep (In comparison to home)

“Possibly the best Fish & Chips I've had...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013 via mobile

Friendly staff, keen to help and willing to adapt... Stunningly fresh fish, good crispy batter and lovely crispy chips - I wish all fish & chip shops were this good, but I'm pleased this one exists and hope they go from strength to strength... Fabulous!

“very good fish and chips”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

fish was very well cooked and was light and fluffy as were the chips, only slight criticism is that not enough vinegar was put on, so we had to come back and ask for more, but overall excellent
