“A gem of a find, great b&b ran by great people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2011

The decor is interesting and beautiful; the cleanliness top notch; breakfast was first class - with an excellent selection; the lovely owners were lovely, welcoming and gracious - giving space where needed and chatting when we wanted. We will definitely be back- this is a gem of a find.

Mevagissey is a small seaside village on the south coast of Cornwall, it has a very lively fishing fleet and lovely harbour. We have just returned from a relaxed and very comfortable stay at “Pisky Cottage” on River Terrace. Our hosts, the ever-friendly and welcoming Howie and Andy, absolutely made our holiday. This was our first stay at Pisky Cottage (we slept in “Pisky’s Nook” room), but we knew of Howie and Andy and their renowned hospitality from our previous stays with them at “Whitewaves Guest House” down in St Ives.

"Pisky Cottage" is very much smaller than their previous guest house (even the furniture seems designed by elves), but the welcome and standard of care and service is as grand as ever. There is a lovely little garden with seating where you can unwind and take in the sea air, and inside the cottage there is a comfy corner downstairs where you can relax awhile, there is a ‘snug’ on the first floor with an interesting selection of books and DVDs should you wish to while away a time in your room. There are two friendly cats, Mabel and Kismet. Then, as if this wasn’t enough, at the top of the cottage there is a studio packed with Andy’s artwork, handmade jewellery, collectables ~ all for sale at reasonable prices.

We would thoroughly recommend this tiny but friendly cottage - it is located almost on the edge of the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and is only a short distance from the Eden Project. And the choice of Cornish breakfast each morning is superb: kippers and marmalade on toast, locally-picked mushrooms with Cornish cream & nutmeg, the full Cornish if you wish...

We have no hesitation in handing out Oscars all round. Many thanks Andy and Howie.

Pisky Cottage is a true gem of a B&B.

Andy and Howie could not be more welcoming and they truly make you feel like guests in their lovely home.

The rooms are nice appointed, if not slightly on the small side. However, this adds to the character of the place. The bathrooms are quite cosy.

However, the breakfast is pretty much up there with anywhere I have stayed in the world. Absolutely superb

The building is very 'cottagey' with low ceilings - so watch your heads. Best not to take large bags either as they would be a pain to manoveure and store.

This place is perfect for the romantic getaway.

Part of me does not want to recommend this place .. and just to keep a secret for future visits.

Room Tip: Small bags and watch your heads on the stairs

We couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome from the two lads. It was the many little extras that made our stay so memorable.(Delicious freshly baked muffins left out for our supper on the return from a night out)!! The choice of breakfasts was unbelievable and all of the highest quality. Room was small but this didn't detract from our wonderful stay as it simply added to its charm . We would recommend this wonderful place to anyone and everyone. Thanks once again lads.

this is a fantastic place to stay it is spotlessly clean from top to bottom ,tea, coffee, hot chocolate and you can help yourself to more if you need to also fresh milk for your drinks ,they really do think of every thing, they also have a good selection of dvd films and books for you to use in your room ,and the breakfast and choice is 10 out 10 ,was made very very welcome,it isone of the the best b&b i have stayed in. They also recommended a restaurant for us called Roovrays in polkirt hill at the top end just a little away from the other restaurants and pubs, but you must find it you will not be disappointed ,it doesnt do 3 set coures for a set price, but when you add each course up it is no more expensive than any of the set course places we went past ,but the food speaks for itself and the proprietor is a very funny lady who makes you feel very relaxed again 10 out of 10.
