I visited the Scarlet for one night on a flying visit and my only regret was that I couldn't stay for longer. It won't be everyone's perfect choice, but if you like your hotels modern, cleverly architecturally designed and unpretentious - then this is for you. My room was stunning: very open plan with different bits of the bathroom spaced around the central bed. The sinks were behind the headboard, the bath in one corner and a cylindrical shower in another. But what really impressed me was the spiral staircase which went behind the shower and led you up to a small observation room with a view of the coast. Wow.
The spa area looked very relaxing and the bar area was very welcoming with great bar snacks. Best of all though was breakfast. The restaurant space just leads out to a beautiful little bit of Cornish beach which is mesmerizing and bracing. Overall, I can't praise the Scarlet enough, it is pretty much a blueprint of my perfect hotel.
