“5 star self catering luxury and doggie friendly - paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2010

If you're looking for 5 star luxury where you can bring your dogs this is it. The cottages are finished to a really high specification with everything you need to make them a home from home. Our only complaint is that we didn't stay longer!

Superb location peaceful yet close to amenities and beach; high standard of contemporary accommodation; spacious and well thought out; great dog friendly option. Try it - you won't be disappointed!

The cottage (Longdown) was beautifully decorated and fitted out (contemporary). The Proudfoot family know what is needed for a fabulous family holiday - and they provided it. The games barn and pool were a hit with my kids, the fields and walks down to the beach a hit with my dog! I loved the dog package which provided all we needed during our stay. There was even a dog wash and hair dryer! It truly was a dog friendly holiday. On our arrival we were greeted with lovely lemon cake and a warm welcome from the owner. If you are after high spec accomadation in a fabulous location that caters for kids and dogs - choose the Proudfoot's cottages.

We have just returned from a week long stay in Sandparks - one of Whalesborough's fantastic holiday cottages. We were promised 5 star - and we certainly got it! The cottages are absolutely spotless and equipped with absolutely everything you could want. Contemporary in design, they have been decorated and furnished to a very high standard. (In fact I would be VERY happy to have a home like that!). The cottages are pet friendly and for a small extra charge we were provided with a huge dog crate, covers for the sofa, a dog mat, poop bags and even a welcome chew for our beloved Jack Russell. The welcome from James, Sharran, Fraser and Sue was personalised with a short note and a thoughtful gesture of a locally made lemon cake (YUM). The owners have thought through this small holiday development through to fine detail. Level, well lit and well signposted car parking close to the cottages is secure and makes for easy load in and load out. The cottages are located close to each other - almost like a little village - but they have been positioned in such a way that the small individual coutyard gardens attached to each property are not really overlooked. Amazing kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine, fantastic bedrooms with comfortable beds and high end bathroom and shower. All linen is provided and is pristine - not a mark in sight. There is a barn with a range of games for the little people when wet weather strikes and an outdoor heated pool For the eco minded there is a recycling point for everything! Local beach at Widemouth is a 20 min stroll away across fields and a walk along the Bude Canal will take you into Bude itself. Most well known attractions are 45mins - 1hr drive away but the local beaches and small hamlets will keep you more than occupied. If the weather is good then it's heaven - no need to use the car! For dog lovers Black Rock beach is fantastic - with no need for a lead and fantastic rock pools to explore at low tide.
This is not the normal self catering holiday - it's everything you could wish for and seldom get.

We stayed in Longdown and it was a truely great week. Fab settings and nothing was too much trouble from the owners.

It was lovely to go on the "pram friendly" walks through the farmland or on the canal to bude with our 15 week old twins.

A highclass accomodation that was very high quality with little touches like localy produced cake on arrival ! (It was yummy!)

I woudl definatley recomend this place and we will be returning. Its quite pricey for a couple (with babies) but so very much worth it and probably very good value if you fill the cottage to its full occupancy (we didnt).

I keep coming onto tripadvisor and seeing all the reviews for this lovely place and being as we now have been twice and just booked our 3rd visit thought i would contribute.. Where do i start .. well first of all, of all the places ive been too with my dog this is the first that we have been too that didnt single out the dog owners, i think if you respect the accomodation theres no reason too ! We came for New year 2009 and had Barley Park which was great massive living and bedroom space with so many mod cons we felt at home and could have moved in - had a fabulous time - so rebooked for the April 2010 with my husbands parents this time in Westcotts which was a 2 bedroom cottage with the upper floor - this again was excellent accomodation, there was even a stair gate to stop the dog from getting up the stairs which we found to be useful. We loved that holiday that much we are all returning - booked woody platt and are happy to be going for 2 weeks !! cant wait :)) !!

What a find! We stayed for two weeks in Westcotts at Whalesborough. We found the accommodation first class. It was spotless and was finished to a very high standard. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone in to these cottages to make them luxurious and comfortable. The amenities both inside and outside were top notch! The kids (aged 12 and 10) loved the indoor barn and outside heated pool. The dog loved his comfortable bed, the enclosed garden and doggy treat on arrival along with the many different places to go for walks, and the adults.......... loved it all!. If you are looking for first class self catering accommodation in North Cornwall that has it all, then look no further than Whalesborough!
