“Overpriced tourist trap”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013 via mobile

We were the only people in here when we visited the area. Staff were welcoming. I ordered a SMALL glass of DRY white wine and what turned up was a LARGE glass of watered down SWEET house wine and when I complained he just told me that was the house wine like it or lump it! So rude. The food was small portions but tasted ok, however was very overpriced where everything was £10 or over per main dish. Do not recommend this place.

“Expensive for poor quality food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Unfortunatly we did have good meal here, The starter was cooked well, straight from the fryer and tandori-oven(not hard) The currys were very poor the onions and vegetables were still hard not cooked through, pretty poor considering that they should be there bread and butter dishes.
The waiter was very forceful in what we should have with lots of extra's i'm glad i did not as i'm sure these would have been as bad the mains. The other staff were poorly dressed the kitchen hand, who served us our started! in clothes that looked like he slept in, and the bar staff in the thinest pair of leggings showing all that she had when bending over to get in the bar, thanks for thong show! Safe to say try at will?

Wonderful food and service - highly recommended (although the glasses for soft drinks were too small!)

“Great food and service at Saffron”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We visited this restaurant during a recent holiday, it was a week night and we walked in off the street and got seated straight away, but it busied-up later on, generating a more lively, but somehow still cosy atmosphere.
There were the traditional dishes that you get at most Indian restaurants, and then some interesting looking specials.
We went fairly simple - a dupiaza and a madras. I'm told the madras had quite a kick, and my dupiaza was a good strong 'medium'. Naans, rice, sides etc were all very good, and what struck me most about the mains was how they weren't at all oily, like they can often be.
In terms of value for money, the standard mains were one price per dish type whether it contained just vegetables or one of the various meats. So for us it wasn't the best value as we had the vegetable options, but meat-eaters might find it better value.
All in all I can't fault the food, and the service was friendly and attentive, even when it got busier. Would definitely go again if in the area.
