“Lovely place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

A great cafe on the edge of the village - perfect for an excellent cappucino and slice of cake, and with free wifi (the only available in Helford). The tea cake is particularly good.

“Amateurish cafe in a lovely old chapel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

What a sweet little chapel! Unfortunately, the cafe did not live up to its architecture.
First impressions were not brilliant: one has to pay to park in the adjacent car park; WiFi was promised but not discoverable until I asked them to turn their router on!
Incredibly, they had sold out of Cornish pasties, the nearest thing to a hot meal on their menu! I ordered a Ploughman's instead.
Our meals took an age to arrive. I really do not understand what took so long to prepare such simple dishes. I can only think it was the carefully assembled salad, composed of two pieces of each component - really not worth anything, let alone the wait.
My Ploughman's cost ca. £7 but comprised the smallest roll, pieces of stilton and ham that I have ever seen on a plate together. Actually really shocking value.
The two ladies doing all the work behind the counter were friendly enough and clearly very well meaning, but I suspect had received little or no training. Quite apart from any technical aspects, we were treated to a discussion of the behaviour of all the preceding customers!
Toilets were of the municipal variety across the car park - fair enough given the setting.

WiFi: Free :)
Baby change: No :(
Sticky tables: No (surprisingly) :)
