“Excellent!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014 via mobile

Had our first camping experience here last summer and had the most wonderful time. Myself and my family went with 4 other families in tents without electricity. We were slightly worried but the wonderful location of the pitches meant we were literally a stones throw from the beach. We made memories for our children here that will never be forgotten. As there were so many of us we did our own cooking and made our own entertainment but in location alone this place won us over!

This is the best park I have been to buy a country mile!
The location was fantastic, a short walk down the sand dunes from the sea view caravan and hey presto, probably the best beach in the UK!
The park is a not so full on as with Haven sites, which we thought was brilliant.
A short drive to Hayle (about mile) for supermarkets, good pasty shops, fish and chips and beach accessories like wetsuits, body boards for the kids etc.
St Ives is about 20 minutes away and is delightful and Penzance is about the same distance and Lands End is worth a trip, which is about 40 mins away.
The park has a great shop as well serving fresh bread and sells beach wear. The indoor pool is excellent and the staff around the park go about their jobs quietly and efficiently.
The park is spotless and the crazy golf and tennis facility was enjoyed also.
We are booking for this year, and I would recommend that you should too, you wont be disappointed!!

Room Tip: I would recommend a sea view caravan as the sunsets are amazing!

I have been coming here for about 9 years now twice a year without fail. I simply can’t get enough of the place. It’s in the most beautiful setting and the accommodation is superb and very comfortable, I have had the cabins and the caravans. All brilliant and have everything you need.
The facilities are as you would expect and it’s all very clean and very well maintained. The bay bistro is great for a snack and the bar connected is great little bar with very friendly staff, also its fab to sit and watch the sun go down on the decking. Or walk down to the beach. I give this place a 5 star rating. very very recommended

We are seasoned campers and after reading such great reviews of St Ives Bay Holiday Park on here we thought it sounded like a great place to take some friends who have never camped before to see if they liked it.....they loved it and that was down to such a lovely, clean site with excellent facilities and really hard working friendly staff. We have been going to Cornwall camping as we have a campervan, for years and been in lots of different sites around the Hayle, Newquay, Holywell Bay and St Ives areas and this one has been the best one we have visited so far, by far.

The plots are well laid out and spaced apart and the shower/toilet blocks are always spotlessly clean, in fact I visited the loo in the middle of the night (about 3am) one night and found someone in there cleaning, then when I went for my morning shower (at about 8.30am) there was another lady in there cleaning again, talk about service.

The actual site itself was also spotlessly clean. We saw no litter and there was plenty of bins all around the park.

The shop is very well stocked and has a really good selection of food, fresh bread, beachwear/wetsuits and gifts. We stayed for a week in August and in that week we only went to the club 3 times but each time the entertainment was fantastic. One night was a singer and she was great, another night was a band who were just as good and the final night was bingo and a disco. The kids tried the kids club but I think they may just have been a little too old to really appreciate it at 10 but it looked really well run.

The play park attached to the club is great and we found it to be really good as it was within our line of sight from the club window so we could sit and relax and keep an eye on the kids at the same time. The play park was surrounded by a fencing and has sand on the ground so they were safe and we had no worries about them running out into the road or anything as the park was so well fenced in. The arcade was also great so our older son who is 14 was catered for too and of course if the children are happy and having fun then us parents are happy too.

Now on to the beach.....well all I can say is it is simply gorgeous. All the pictures on here show just how beautiful it is but really you just have to see it for yourself to fully appreciate it. It is simply wonderful. The beach is a short walk from the Park itself but I must say if you have a buggy or are elderly or not good on our legs then it is a little steep but I have to say it is well worth the walk. Our two boys and our friends two children just wanted to surf, make sand castles or use their body boards to slide down the sand dunes all day long and because the beach was so clean and the Life Guards on duty were always around patrolling the beach and even canoeing around the flagged area, I felt that the children were really safe, even though we were never more than 15 feet away from them while they surfed.

We didn't use the pool on site, simply because we were blessed with gorgeous hot sunny weather so the kids just wanted to spend every day on the beach, but the pool did look lovely I have to say. The only thing I was disappointed with is the fact that the bar that overlooks the beach is adults only. We really would have loved to go there for a meal as it was my husband's birthday while we were there but when we went all dressed up ready for a good feed we were told that it was an adults only bar, there isn't another place to eat on the park unfortunately so it was fish and chips from the chippy that night instead :-(

The testament to what a great time we had was that none of us wanted to leave, even our friends who have never camped before loved the place so much that we have vowed to return soon.

We are booking up for next year as soon as we can as we all loved the place.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second field back from the main club room which was fine regarding noise from the c...

Thanks for such a long and detailed review. The bar area in the sands club is adult only but the conservatory/bistro and the family area at the back are both open to everyone. Thanks for all the kind comments!

Even though St Jude's storm was on its way we still arrived.
The Storm never really surfaced down there but the impact it had on the waves was great
The beach on the Towans, Perranporth were really big and surfers taking full advantage
Pool open short hours but warm and good fun. Bar & club house closed but didn't miss it at all
My 5th year now down here and it never disapoints our family.
Staff very helpful and polite as always, never understood why some folk say they are rude!!

Room Tip: In October we went for A5 since it was the only one available with a bath

fantastic park for location and the activities on offer, only down side was kids are not allowed in the main room at night, they do have a room especially for kids with songs and games but it was horrible, tiny is not the word! it smelt of sweaty feet and sweaty people as there were loads of adults and kids stuffed into a very small room and there were no bar and you weren't even allowed to take drinks in, so we had to have me and my husband swapping about one would sit in the tiny kids room and watch over the kids whilst the other would sit and have a drink and play bingo and then we would swap so the other could have a drink, we spent the holiday at night times in here seperated, the kids loved the room for the songs and games but its not my idea of a family holiday, its a shame as the site is beautiful and they cater everything else for kids, they should do what every other family parks do and do the main room for everyone so nobody is excluded and then if you want the quieter side have a little bar/pub for no children. still it did not totally spoil our holiday as the beaches made up for it i would stay in a wheeleie bin just to stay in cornwall its the most beautiful place in the uk especially st ives coast line, which is the reason why i have still gave this park 4 stars.

Thanks for a generous review! There seems to be some confusion. Kids are welcome in all parts of the Dynamite bar except for a small area around the bar. There is also a kids room with entertainment in the Dynamite bar. The bar in the sands club is adult only but kids enjoy the conservatory, and a family area in this complex. So the only "adult only" areas are the sands bar and the small bar area in the Dynamite bar. Hope this helps!
