We stayed here last year and absolutely loved it, so when we decided we wanted a little break away we opted to come back. We chose a different chalet to last year to get a bit of variety. We stayed in F18 Branksea. The views, although not as good as last year in F56 Glenette were still lovely.
We chose Toms initially to be honest because of the price. Being younger and being a part student/part time worker couple we look for a bargain. You cannot argue with the value if you shop wisely...
The chalet is placed at a good point on the site. Not too close to the entrance or the beach, so nice and peaceful, but still only a 3 minute walk to the rolling sands of Hayle. Branksea is up a steep bank though so bear this in mind. The park itself is generally quite flat, with a steep-ish slope down to the beach, but it's pretty stable.
The chalet itself sleeps 4. There was only of us, but I think it could fit 4 quite comfortably. The living room has wooden floors and comfy sofas. The round dining table is set in the corner so you need to pull it out to use it fully. The kitchen looks quite new, and the oven is good. We couldn't figure out how to get hot water in the sink though...had to boil the kettle multiple times to wash the dishes. There was no welcome book that we could find (and we did root through drawers) which I think is quite bad. It was a bit of mission figuring out what the multiple switches did.
Electricity is by pound coin meter which a lot of people seem to dislike and think should be included in the price. I kind of agree but to be honest we were there 3 nights and only had to put 2 pound in. And of an evening we would have the cooker on, with the TV, phones charging etc. Not bad value. The shower seems to use the most electricity so maybe be aware of this more than anything. I quite liked it as it encouraged the boyfriend to switch lights off when he leaves the room ;)
Bed was very comfortable! And for two tall people we actually fit in which is rare. Can't comment on comfort of twin room as boyfriend simply used it as a dumping ground for all his stuff...Lots of wardrobe and drawer space in the double bedroom though, so no excuse really!
Only disappointments were that our DVD player built into the TV didn't work. Tried various things but to no avail...quite disappointing as we had purposefully brought a few DVDs with us. Ended up having to watch the usual dross on the telly instead. Also our fridge seemed to be frozen at the back, so probably was faulty, or on the wrong setting. Didn't really notice it until our last morning when we were looking forward to our bacon and egg sandwiches...our bacon was frozen together, and eggs had cracked with the pressure of it's frozen insides! Always disappointed when I can't get my food! We did inform the holiday park who noted it, so this may well be solved by now.
The park itself is lovely. Situated a 3-4 minute drive from Loggan's Moore roundabout in Hayle it's the perfect balance of convenience alongside isolation. I think the chalets are privately owned as they are all different and dotted around the park; unlike neighbouring holiday park Haven where they are in condensed straight lines. There is a small park for kiddies and there is a Spar and chippie very close by. St Ives is a 15-20 minute drive.
Overall we love this holiday park and we will definitely return. Only advice is to look carefully at the chalet you are booking, as I said they are privately owned so I imagine are at varying standards. Some people on here say Toms Holiday park is terrible, but I think this is based on their chalet, not the whole experience in general. Pick a chalet wisely, and you'll have a lush holiday!!!!
Just choose according to your personal needs. Make sure your choice is accessible as parts of the p...

Thank you for your helpful review. We were glad to hear that you enjoyed your last stay and wanted to return this year. Certainly the 114 properties on our books do vary considerably. As they are privately owned, each has its own style and décor and level of luxury. Our staff in the office are always happy to discuss the differences in properties and are happy to help. We are trying to negotiate with the owners to have the electric meters removed in all properties by next season. Some owners have already removed them from their properties for the benefit of their customers. We also encourage owners to provide manuals and details of how to operate equipment. Had we known about your DVD player not working, we could have loaned you one . We have a stock of various items in the office for just such cases. We are pleased to hear you share our enthusiasm for the place and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.
