“Perfect place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

As we live within a few miles of this lovely hotel and restaurant,we decided to book for Dinner. We were welcomed on arrival by the owner and ushered to the very comfortable lounge for pre dinner drinks. We were lucky enough to sit right beside the window and marvelled at the wonderful view of the river. The tide was full and the whole vista was very picturesque. Our meal was excellent, the service from Russell and the waiting staff was superb. We stayed here last year for one night for my birthday and had a fantastic time. We will try not to leave it too long before we return.

We had a good 3-day break at this hotel and, like many other reviewers, were won over by the stunning views. Our room was described as superior but it was small, cramped, dated and rather tatty. Mis-matched furniture and mouldy curtains, a tiny bathroom and limited storage made it less than superior. It was rescued by comfortable beds and a great balcony view but significantly over priced compared to a wide range of hotel accommodation we have used in the last few years. Evening meal was very good quality as was breakfast. Some items on the a la carte menu 'unavailable' on all 3 nights which was disappointing. Good service from the young staff in the dining room and a very relaxing environment.

Room Tip: All rooms have river view but balcony is worth paying for

We stayed at the Comorant in May, it is a beautiful hotel with superb views of the river Fowey and an ideal get away from it all location. We had a superior room with a wonderful walk in power shower.
There was also a great swimming pool, which was a good size to have a decent swim in.
The attention to detail regarding service was exemplary, nothing was too much trouble.
The meals in the restaurant were superb, I have never tasted such finely cooked cuisine, all in all i have stayed in more expensive hotels, but would rate this hotel as one of the best we have ever stayed in.
We are so impressed with The Comorant that we have booked it for a week next June.

Room Tip: To fully appreciate the view, pay for a balcony room, rather than a Juliet

You could visit this hotel just because you enjoy great food alone... the view tops it and the people are lovely and friendly too. Why would you not visit.
My warning tip - this could be the moment your evil sat nav has been waiting for... do not allow it to take you the scenic route, don't have it set on 'quickest time' for the last 10 miles.
To top your trip - get the fully balcony room or you may end up with a juliet.
Some people may find the bathrooms a little less than the value of the price tag but once you step out onto the balcony all is quickly forgotten. The hotel was modernised 6 years ago with some great vision including the balcony and terrace... it may need a touch up quite soon if the owner is listening!!

Room Tip: Ask for the full balcony and the top floor may be better...

we had a fabulous stay here, the location is remote with stunning views.
The quality of the food is outstanding. The staff are very attentive and helpful.
We stayed in the Cormorant room which had its own private balcony. The room was very nice always kept clean and tidy when we were out well worth paying a little extra for.
The restaurant was very good, food was to a very high standard. The wines were very reasonably priced and a good selection.
Would definately come back. The hotel is well placed to visit most of Cornwall.
P&D.

Room Tip: The Cormorant room was excellent pick of the hotel worth paying alittle bit more for. Views of the...

We enjoyed our stay in the Cormorant, with great views from our balcony in a very peaceful location. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean with a well stocked mini bar (same prices as the bar) and fresh milk for teas and coffees. The breakfast was spot on with a great selection to choose from, I'm not sure why other comments suggest that it lacked choice, as the menu had everything from your full english and eggs benedict through to kippers and much more? We found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient, the owner even went out of her way to deliver some belongings I had left in the room to the station for me in time for my train!
We spent an enjoyable rainy afternoon in the hotels pool and hot tub and had it all to ourselves! The food we tried was all very well cooked and the restaurant always seemed busy with residents and non residents. I would return and bring a car next time to explore further as taxis can sometimes be difficult to get (it was Fowey regatta during our stay though). The outdoor furniture really does need replacing but other than that an enjoyable stay.

Had a fantastic stay at the cormorant. The staff were wonderful, the views up and down the river beautiful and the food some of the best I've ever had. The mussels & bacon in cider, cornish lamb and lovely wines really stick in my mind. Excellent breakfast too. Cannot recommend it highly enough.
